20、eratedcorkstopperswith,however,onetothreediscsmadeofnaturalcork; b) stoppersmadeonlyofagglomeratedcork. 5 Description 5.1 Agglomeratedcorkstopperwithdiscsofnaturalcorkwood Thisisastoppercomprisingabodyofagglomeratedcorkofuniformcompressionlengthwiseandonetothree discsofnaturalcorkwoodgluedtooneendof
21、thebody(seeFigure1).Eachdiscshallpresentfullyparallelfaces andathicknessof6mmto8mm,withaminimumof4mmfortheexternaldiscwhenthestopperhastwoorthree discs. 23、hamferof3,5mmto 5mm. 7 Characteristics 7.1 Agglomeratedcorkstopperwithdiscsofnaturalcorkwood 7.1.1 Agglomeratedcork Granulatedcorkshallbeproducedfromcleancork.Itshallbefreeofdustandofrigidparticlesand/orparticles extraneoustocork,aswellasbackandlignin. Agglomerationmaybeobtainedbyextrusionormoulding

Thebodysurfaceoftheagglomeratedcorkstoppershallbepolishedandperfectlycylindrical,showingauniform chamfer,ifany. 7.1.2 Discsofnaturalcorkwood Thediscsshallhaveaminimumthicknessof4mmandtheiraspectshallconformtotheagreementbetweenthe supplierandclient. Also,duringtheselectionofthecorkfortheproduction
25、ofdiscs,therawmaterialshallbechosenwithconsideration ofanyanomaliesthatmayaffectoraltertheorganolepticcharacteristicsofthewineswithwhichthediscswillcome intocontact,andthatmayhindertheirutilization,suchasantholes,wormholes,greencorkwoodordryvein. Otheranomalies,suchasearthycorkwood,backandlignifiedl
26、enticels,shallhavesuchdimensionsthattheydo notendangertheperformanceofthecorkstopper,andshallconformtothecriteriaofacceptance/rejection establishedbetweenthesupplierandclient. 7.2 Agglomeratedcorkstopper Anagglomeratedcorkstoppershallconformtotheconditionsestablishedin7.1.1. 8 Dimensions Thechoiceof
27、thedimensionsofcorkstoppersdependsontheneckprofilofthebottletobeused,andthe agreementbetweentheinterestedparties. Thedimensionsofthemostcommonlyusedcorkstoppersforstandardizedbottles(half-bottle,bottleandmagnum) arethefollowing: length: 47mmto48mm;toleranceof 0,5mm; diameter: 29mmto31mm;toleranceof
28、0,3mm.ISO4710:2000(E) 4 9 Binderandtreatment Thebinderandtheproductsusedinthemanufactureandtreatmentofthestoppersforsparklingwinesand gasifiedwinesshallconformtotheregulationsinforceinthecountriesconcerned. 10Packing Thestoppersforsparklingwinesandgasifiedwinesshallbepackedinresistantandventilatedpa
29、ckages. Whenundertheactionofantiseptics,thestoppersshallbepackedinhermeticpackages. Eachpackageshallcontainonlyonetypeofcorkstopperforsparklingwinesandgasifiedwines. 11Marking Eachpackageshallbeclearlyandindeliblymarkedbythemanufacturerwiththefollowinginformation: a) themanufacturersnameoridentifyin
30、gmark(evenunderacodeform); b) thecodedinitialsofthebuyer,andthecountryorplaceofdestination; c) thenominaldimensionsofthestoppers; d) thenumberofstoppers. 12Transportandstorage Allpackagesshallbestoredinadry,cleanandventilatedplaceuntilthecorkstoppersareused. Drynessandcleannessshallbemaintaineddurin
