7、 October 2002 Foreword This British Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ACE/15 under the direction of the Sector Policy and Strategy Committee. It is a conversion of, and supersedes, MOD(PE) Specification DTD 5082, which is withdrawn. The Ministry of Defence rendered all DTD Specificat

8、ions obsolescent in 1999 and will withdraw them in 2003. Steel products of this composition are still required by the UK Aerospace industry, and this British Standard has been created to satisfy that continuing requirement. This British Standard incorporates the technical requirements of MOD(PE) Spe

9、cification DTD 5082, updates the references, and presents the standard in a format compatible with other similar British Standards. This publication does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users are responsible for its correct application. Compliance with a British St

11、2 BSI 30 October 2002 1 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the characteristics of a 1 % chromium-molybdenum steel for aerospace applications, supplied in the following forms and as parts, for general aerospace use: a) forging stock and billets and bars for subsequent working: softened, designat

12、ion S 164A; b) forgings: softened, designation S 164C; c) forgings: D e 16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164F; d) black bars for machining: softened, designation S 164B; e) black bars for machining: D e 16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164E; f) bright bars for machining: soften

13、ed and subsequently cold drawn, cold rolled, machined or ground, designation S 164D; g) bright bars for machining: D e 16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164G. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For undated refer

14、ences, the latest edition of the publication referred to applies. BS 5S 100:1993, Procedure for inspection, testing and acceptance of wrought steels (other than plate, sheet, strip and tube). 1) 3 Technical requirements 3.1 The material in its delivery and use conditions shall comply with Table 1, T

15、able 2, or Table 3 according to form. 3.2 Sulfur printing or deep etch testing shall be carried out in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 100. 3.3 The material shall be overall dressed at a suitable stage in manufacture. 3.4 Bar for machining, delivered in the hardened and tempered condition

16、, which has been subjected to a cold straightening or cold working operation after heat treatment shall be given a stress relieving heat treatment to restore the proof stress. 3.5 The equivalent diameter of parts or other products at final heat treatment shall be equal to, or less than the limiting

17、ruling section of 16 mm. 3.6 Parts finally heat-treated after machining shall conform to the latest edition of BS S 100. 3.7 Parts shall be supplied in the fully heat-treated, hardened and tempered, condition. NOTE The format and symbols of Table 1 are derived from European Standards prEN 4500-1 and

18、 prEN 4500-5 which are published as AECMA prestandards. The presentation is slightly modified to make it compatible with existing British standards. 1) The latest edition of this standard should be used.
