5、um moisture content of 12% by mass.5.1.3 MaterialAll sash parts in all species shall be free from splits, checks, shakes, or knots. Frame parts may contain knots, provided that no individual knot has a diameter greater than one-third of the width of the member, with a maximum knot size of 25 mm. Fra

6、me parts may contain splits, checks, or shakes, provided that none is exposed after the frame has been installed and trimmed.5.1.4 Preservative Treatment5.1.4.1 All wood components shall be treated in accordance with the preservative manufacturers recommendations, with a preservative as specified in

7、 Clause 6.1. Treatment shall occur after all machining has been completed and before any part of the machined component is exposed to surface moisture.Frames and sashes may be treated as individual parts, as subassemblies, or when completely assembled. If treated before final assembly, any parts tha

8、t are refitted shall be retreated. If treated after final assembly, measures shall be taken to ensure end-grain penetration of the preservative.5.1.4.2 A brush coat shall only be used where size or special detail would make other methods of preservative treatment extremely difficult or impossible. I

9、n such cases, all surfaces shall be covered, with particular attention given to joints and end-grain.5.1.4.3 Treatment shall only be undertaken when the temperature of the wood and the preservative is at or above 15C.5.1.4.4 The preservative shall not adversely affect any adhesive used in the fabric

10、ation of the window, shall not have an objectionable odour, shall not be injurious to people when properly handled, and shall be noncorrosive with respect to other window components.5.2 Steel5.2.1 Sheet Steel5.2.1.1 Sheet steel shall meet one of the following requirements:(a) it shall be stainless s

11、teel;(b) it shall be hot-rolled oil-pickled steel; or(c) it shall have a hot-dipped zinc coating at least equal to the coating designated in ASTM Standard A 653/A 653M or A 924/A 924M.5.2.1.2 Sheet steel shall have sufficient ductility to permit any necessary forming operation.5.2.2 Enamel CoatingSt

12、eel components exposed on the interior or exterior shall have a protective enamel coating that complies with Clause 6.5.13(Replaces p. 13, December 2000)A440-00 Canadian Standards AssociationNovember 20065.3 Aluminum5.3.1 ExtrusionsExtruded aluminum shall be alloy 6060 or 6063. Extruded aluminum use

13、d for main frame, mullion, sash, or ventilator sections shall have a minimum yield strength of 110 MPa in thicknesses up to and including 12.7 mm.5.3.2 Sheet AluminumSheet aluminum shall be alloy 1100, 3003, 3004, 3005, 3105, or 5005. Sheet aluminum shall have a minimum yield strength of 100 MPa.Not

14、e: Aluminum alloy designations, composition, and mechanical properties correspond to those of the Aluminum Association.5.3.3 FinishesAluminum windows shall have an enamel, anodized, or mill finish. Protective enamel coatings shall comply with the requirements of Clause 6.2. Anodized coatings shall c

15、omply with the requirements of Clause 6.3.5.4 Vinyl5.4.1 Rigid vinyl components (PVC and CPVC) shall conform to the requirements of ASTM Standard D 4726. Lead content shall conform to the requirements of Clause 3.7 of AAMA Standard 303.5.4.2 Laminated or organically coated profiles shall comply with

16、 AAMA Standard 303.5.4.3 The materials in, and extrusion quality of, nonrigid vinyl extrusions used for glazing and weatherseals shall conform to CGSB Standard 41-GP-20M.5.5 Fibre-Reinforced Plastics5.5.1 Pultruded Fibreglass-Reinforced Plastics (FRP)Pultruded FRP framing and sash components shall c

17、ontain a minimum of 50% (by weight) glass content, with the balance consisting of resins and inert fillers.5.5.2 FinishesAll exposed FRP surfaces of windows shall have a protective coating or otherwise offer resistance to, or be protected from, UV radiation. These coatings shall comply with the requ

18、irements of Clause 6.4.5.6 Glazing5.6.1 Glazing MaterialsGlazing shall conform to one or more of the following CGSB Standards (as applicable to the glazing type):(a) CAN/CGSB-12.1;(b) CAN/CGSB-12.2;(c) CAN/CGSB-12.3;(d) CAN/CGSB-12.4;(e) CAN/CGSB-12.10;(f) CAN/CGSB-12.11;(g) CAN/CGSB-12.12 (if flame
