20、5 kVOctober 20135.10 Thermal mechanical test5.10.1 Test specimensThree insulators shall be selected for this test.5.10.2 Test procedureThe test procedure shall be as follows:(a) Each insulator shall be tensioned to 5% of the SML for 1 min at ambient temperature.(b) During this time, the length of ea
21、ch insulator shall be measured. The measurement of the reference length shall be made to include the end fittings but exclude the couplings. The measurement accuracy shall be 0.5 mm.(c) Each insulator shall be submitted to thermal variations from 50 C 5 K to 50 C 5 K while under a constant mechanica
22、l load of 50% or greater of the SML for 96 h. The time at each temperature shall be at least 8 h per cycle. The thermal test cycles shall be as shown in Figure 6.(d) At the end of thermal cycling, each insulator shall be allowed to reach the original ambient temperature and the length shall be measu
23、red in accordance with Item (b).5.10.3 Test evaluationThe test requirements shall be deemed to have been met if(a) the increase in each insulator length is equal to or less than 2 mm, and each insulator passes the moisture penetration test in Clause 5.6.3.2; and(b) no fracture or cracking of the met
24、al end fittings occurs at the mechanical load of 50% or greater of the SML. The diagnostic testing of all the fittings shall be verified using a penetration dye diagnostic test and analysis in accordance with ASTM E1417.5.11 Flammability test5.11.1 ProcedureThis test is intended to check the shed an
25、d housing material for ignition and self-extinguishing properties. The test shall be performed according to IEC 60695-11-10. The sample thickness shall be 3 mm.5.11.2 Acceptance criteriaThe test requirements shall be deemed to have been met if the test specimen belongs to category V0.6 Type tests6.1
26、 GeneralType tests verify the principal characteristics of the insulator, which depend mainly on its shape and size. They shall be repeated when the design, shape, or size of the insulator changes. Three production line insulators of each type shall meet the requirements of Table 2.6.2 Low-frequency
27、 wet flashover testThis test shall be performed in accordance with Clause 6.4 of CSA C411.1, except that the mounting arrangement of the insulator shall be in accordance with ANSI C29.11, Clause 8.1, and the wet flashover voltages as specified in Table 2 of this Standard. 9(Replaces p. 9, March 2010
28、)C411.5-10 2013 CSA GroupOctober 20136.3 Positive critical impulse flashover testThe insulators shall be tested in accordance with Clause 18 of IEC 60060-1. The atmospheric corrections shall be done using the correction factors in Clause 11 of IEC 60060-1.Failure of the lowest of the positive or neg
29、ative critical impulse flashover values of any one of the three insulators to equal or exceed 92% of the rated critical impulse flashover value, as given in Table 2, shall constitute failure to meet the requirements of this test.6.4 Radio-influence voltage testThe insulators shall be tested in accor
30、dance with Clause 4.9 of NEMA/ANSI C29.1. Failure of one or more insulators to meet the requirements of Table 2 shall constitute failure to meet the requirements of this test.7 Sample tests7.1 GeneralSample tests verify characteristics of the insulator such as those that depend on the quality of man
31、ufacture and on the materials used.7.2 Lot and sample sizeA lot shall consist of the quantity of any one type of insulator, not exceeding 3000 units, manufactured under an identical process. A sample of three insulators shall be selected from the lot at random.Note: Where the lot size is less than 3
32、00, the sample size is subject to negotiation.7.3 Dimensions, markings, and metal fittingsThe three sample insulators shall be checked for dimensions, markings, and metal fittings as specified in Clause 10, Table 2, and Figure 1.7.4 Cotter key operation for socket type end fittingsThe three insulato
33、r samples shall be tested in accordance with Clause 7.3 of CSA C411.1.7.5 Tensile load testTwo of the sample insulators shall be subjected to a tensile load that increases rapidly but smoothly from zero to 75% of the SML and then gradually to the SML over a period from 30 to 90 s. If 100% of the SML
34、 is reached in less than 90 s, the load shall be sustained at SML for the remainder of the 90 s. An insulator shall be deemed to have met the requirements of this test if no failure (breakage or complete pullout of the core) occurs. The load shall then be increased until the insulator fails. The fai
35、lure load shall be recorded.7.6 Galvanizing testFor insulators with galvanized metal fittings, the sample insulator that was not subjected to the tensile load test in Clause 7.5 shall be tested in accordance with CAN/CSA-G164 for the following:(a) mass and thickness of zinc coating;(b) adherence of
36、zinc coating; and(c) quality of work and finish.7.7 End fitting seal testThe sample insulator not subjected to the tensile test specified in Clause 7.5 shall be used for this test. The two end fittings shall pass the moisture penetration test in Clause 5.6.3.2.7.8 Dye penetration testThe sample insu
