、 the first edition of CAN/CSA-ISO 16994, Solid biofuels Determination of total content of sulfur and chlorine, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 16994 (first edition, 2015-04-01). For brevity, this Standa
、rd will be referred to as “CAN/CSA-ISO 16994” throughout. This Standard is one of many Standards developed by ISO/TC 238 on Solid Biofuels that are being adopted by CSA Group. Sulfur and chlorine are present in solid biofuels in varying concentrations. During the combustion process, they are usually
、 converted to sulfur-oxides and chlorides. The presence of these elements and their reaction products can contribute significantly to corrosion and to environmentally harmful emissions. This Standard describes methods for the determination of the total sulfur and total chlorine content in solid biofu
、els. This Standard specifies two methods for digestion of the fuel and different analytical techniques for the quantification of the elements in the digest solutions. The use of automatic equipment is also included in this Standard, provided that a validation is carried out as specified and that the
、 performance characteristics are similar to those of the method described in this Standard. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on Solid Biofuels, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Fuel Burning Equipment, and has been formal
、ly approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada. 2015 CSA Group All rights reserved.
