2、n Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations, considering - that a signifiant number of member countries are progressively introducing push-button dialling in their national network and plan the implementation of new services; - that those services include voice as well as non-voice
3、 services, and some are likely to be available only if the subscriber can use push-button dialling; - that CEFT standardised push-button multifrequency signalling systems are available i, 21 and that the CCITT has also issued a Recommendation on push-button dialling 3; - that the characters, i.e. th
4、e letters, numbers and special symbols, used to designate the buttons and allocated to the signals involved in the user-to-network control operations are of fundamental importance, both for the standardisation of such control operations and for the development of the telephone network numbering plan
5、; - that the layout of the push-buttons on the keypad is a specially conspicuous feature of the terminal for most users and, therefore, requires particular attention when harmonising subscribers terminal equipment, recommeiids to the members of the CEFT, that in the case of push-buttons used on tele
6、phone network terminal equipment, the arrangements of the push-buttons, the symbols for their designation and the definitions relating to their functions are in accordance with the specifications below.” 1. LAYOUT OF THE PUSH-BUTTONS The preferred arrangement and designation of the push-buttons for

8、esignation of buttons are further specified in CCITT Recommendation E. 161 (Q. 11) 3. This Recommendation also deals with human factors aspects of the arrangement relating to the number of buttons and consequent dialling errors. The left-hand 12 buttons are used for telephone purposes. The 4 buttons
9、, A, B, C and D, are provided for special purposes such as data transmission or other services. The arrangement may be utilised with only 10 buttons, in which case the buttons designated *, #, A, B, C and D will not be supplied, or with 12 buttons, in which case the buttons A, B, C and D will not be
