43、he maximum error of the indicated force at any point in the range, in which either of the machines described in par. 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 is used, shall not exceed 290 of the true force. Clamps for tensile testing machine: The clamps of the machine shall be capable of holding the specimen without allowing

44、 it to slip. and shall not cut or otherwise weaken the specimen. The faces of the jaws shall be plane and parallel. The dimensions of the front gripping surface shall be 25mm perpendicular and 25mm parallel to the direction of the application of the force. The back gripping surface shall be at least
