They are to provide moisture-resist

38、ant and draught-resistant barriers that do not impede the passage of water vapor and therefore minimize the condensation of such vapor. This standard applies to breather type sheathing membranes intended for use on the outside of heated buildings, APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS 2.1 The following publicatio

39、ns are applicable to this standard: 2.1.1 American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D 828 Method of Test for Tensile Breaking Strength of Paper and Paperboard E 96 Methods of Test for Measuring Water Vapor Transmission of Materials in Sheet Form 2.2 standard. Reference to the above publicati

40、ons is to the latest issues, unless otherwise specified by the authority applying this TERMINOLOGY 3.1 par. 1.1. It may be coated, impregnated or perforated or a combination of these. Breather Type Sheathing Membrane - A single ply or laminated material intended for the application outlined in G EN

41、ERAL R EQUI R EMENTS 4.1 extent that will cause tearing or other damage on unrolling. The material shall be free from visible defects and shall have a uniform appearance. It shall not stick together to an DETAIL REQUIREMENTS 5.1 Sheet Width -Width of the material shall be as specified (par. 8-11, su

42、bject to a tolerance of -6 mm. 5.2 5.3 3.5 N/mm of width, when tested according to the method described in par. 7.2.2. Pliability - The material shall not crack when bent over a mandrel according to the method described in par. 7.2.1. Tensile Strength - The material shall have an average tensile str

43、ength, in the machine direction, of not less than 5.4 material shall show an average water vapor permeance of not less than 170 ng/Pa-sm2, and not more than 1400 ng/Pa.sm2. To convert metric perms to ng/Pa-s.m2, multiply by 87.2. Water Vapor Permeance - When three uncreased samples are tested accord

44、ing to ASTM E 96, Procedure A, the 5.5 tested according to ASTM E 96, Procedure A, the average water vapor permeance shall be not more than 2900 ng/Pa-s.m2. 46、king - Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1) the material shall be supplied in commercial rolls. Marking - Each roll shall be plainly marked on the outside to identify the contents as breather type sheathing INSPECTION 7.1 turns of the roll have been removed. Sampling - Each sample shall consist of

47、a roll of the material. Specimens shall be taken after at least three outer 7.2 7.2.1 7.2.2 7.2.3 Testing - The methods of testing shall be as specified for each requirement. Pliability - Cut ten specimen strips, 150 mm by 25 mm, lengthwise in the machine direction of the sheathing membrane and expo

48、se them to a temperature of -10 f 2OC for at least 12 h. Test five specimens by bending them through 90C around a 15 mm diameter mandrel at -10 f 2OC. using a uniform bending rate so that the total bend is made in 2 s. The same side of the strip shall be next to the mandrel for each of the five specimens. Test the remaining five specimens with the opposite side of the strip next to the mandrel. Immediately after bending, examine the specimen strips by normal vision for cracks. There shall be no cracks on any of the ten strips. Tensile Strength - Determine the tensile strength on speci
