SCOPE 1.1 This standard applies to mechanical content, coated offset paper used for face and back offset litho printing. Thi

29、s paper may not be suitable for use where permanence is a requirement. If permanence is a requirement, users should refer to the appropriate standard for permanent paper. A Canadian standard for paper permanence is in the course of preparation. The paper supplied to this standard is for use in eithe

30、r web-fed or sheet-fed equipment as specified in the options paragraph and is not interchangeable between the two types of equipment. Paper that leaves the mill in rolls is not recommended for printing on sheet-fed equipment, unless it was specifically ordered for roil-fed sheet equipment. 1.2 No. 4

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 In this standard, paper in the form of

39、 sheets refers to the sheeted paper as supplied by the manufacturer and not the sheeted paper resulting from the end users process. 4.2 Curl - The paper shall lie flat or have no more than a slight curl that can be overcome under normal commercial operating conditions . 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 4.7 4.8 4.9 5

40、. 5.1 5.2 5.3 Surface Condition - The paper surface shall be free from blemishes, dust, lint and other particles that may adversely affect its printing or end use. Formation - Formation of the paper shall be close and even. Trim (sheets) - The paper shall be trimmed with clean, smooth edges and shal

41、l be evenly jogged unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). Successive sheets within any stack shall not vary by more than 1.5 mm in their respective jogged position. Trim (rolls) - The edges of the rolls shall be smooth, clean and even. Splices in Rolls - The number of splices allowed per roll is def

42、ined using the following parameters: Roll Diameter up to 762 mm 763 rnm to 1219 mm more than 1220 mm No. of Splices 1 2-3 4 Each splice must be identified on the end of the roll by means of a stencil or other readily visible mark. Stock - No limitation is imposed on the amount of deinked, or non-dei

43、nked bleached secondary (recycled) fibres nor on the amount of high-yield pulps present in the base stock. Fluorescent (optical) brighteners may be present. The mechanical fibre content of the paper shall be greater than 10%. Moisture Content - This paper may be used either in air-conditioned pressr

44、ooms or in pressrooms lacking relative humidity and temperature controls. Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1), the paper at the time of delivery shall be in equilibrium with a relative humidity of 40 I 5% at a temperature of 23 I 0.5”C for use in air-conditioned pressrooms. If specified “for use i

45、n non-air-conditioned pressrooms” (par. 8. I), the paper at time of delivety shall be in suitable equilibrium with seasonally prevailing relative humidity and temperature conditions. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Physical Dimensions (sheets) - The paper shall be furnished in the sheet sizes specified (par.

46、8.1). For sheet sizes up to and including 216.0 x 356.0 mm, the paper shall not be undersize, and no more than 0.8 mm oversize in either direction. For sheet sizes larger than 216.0 x 356.0 mm, the paper shall not be undersize, and not more than 2.4 mm oversize in either direction. Successive sheets

47、 within any package shall not differ from one another by more than 0.8 mm. Sheets shall be square on all four sides within a tolerance of 0.8 mm in each 762.0 mm as determined on a squaring table. The edge bow in individual sheets shall not be more than 0.8 mm in each 762.0 mm, as determined by turn

48、ing a sheet over. butting an edge against the corresponding edge of the sheet below, measuring the gap between them, and taking half of this measurement. Width (rolls) - The rolls shall be a width as specified (par. 8.1) with a tolerance of 0.8 mm. Cores (rolls) - The paper shall be wound on a non-r

49、eturnable core which has an inside dimension as specified (par. 8.1).
