Condensed operating instructions explaining preventive maintenance procedures, methods of checking the system for normal safe operation, and procedures for safely

Six complete copies of the operation manual outlining the step by step procedures required for system startup, operation and shutdown. Th

13、e manual shall include the manufacturers name, model number, catalog cuts, diagrams, drawings, parts list, and descriptive data covering the proper operation and testing. Six complete copies of the maintenance manual listing routine maintenance procedures; possible breakdowns and repairs, and troubl

14、eshooting guides. The manual shall include simplified diagrams for the system as installed. 1.3 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS NOTE: The designer will show details of the points of connection, size of water main and other features necessary to design the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system shall be designe

15、d by the pipe schedule method in accordance with the requirements specified or indicated, and in accordance with NFPA 13. All contract requirements that exceed the minimum requirements of NFPA 13 shall be incorporated into the design. The system shall be wet pipe dry pipe preaction type and ordinary

16、 hazard class (Group 1). Wet pipe sprinkler system utilizing plastic piping shall additionally incorporate special design and installation criteria relative to pipe hanger spacing, piping and sprinkler restraint, sprinkler temperature rating, piping location, testing procedure, and friction loss cha

17、racteristics which are specified in the manufacturers written installation instructions. 1.3.1 Standard Products Material and equipment shall be the standard products of a manufacturer regularly engaged in the manufacture of the products. 1.3.2 Asbestos Prohibition Asbestos and asbestos-containing p

18、roducts shall not be used. 1.3.3 Nameplates Motors shall have the manufacturers name, address, type or style, model or serial number, and catalog number on a plate secured to the item of equipment. 1.3.4 Verification of Dimensions Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted

19、without license from IHS-,-,-g 3515789 OY58577 329 9 The Contractor shall become familiar with all details of the work, verify all dimensions in the field, and shall advise the Contracting Officer of any discrepancy before performing the work. 1.3.5 Welding Welding shall be in accordance with NFPA 1

20、3. Only shop welding with appropriate welding fittings shall be used. 1.4 DELIVERY AND STORAGE All equipment placed in storage shall be stored with protection from the weather, humidity and temperature variations, dirt and dust or other contaminants. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS Materials and equip

21、ment shall be compatible with any existing features, shall comply with NFPA 13, and shall be listed in UL-O4 or FM P7825 for use in sprinkler systems where applicable. 2.1.1 Chlorine, Liquid AWA B301. 2.1.2 Hypochlorites AWWA B300. 2.2 ELECTRICAL WORK Electric equipment and wiring shall be in accord

22、ance with Section 16415 ELECTRICAL WORK, INTERIOR. Conduit, wiring, control, signal devices, and all associated equipment for the herein specified systems, shall be provided under this section of the specifications. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION Unless otherwise indicated or specified, all mater

23、ial and equipment shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and in accordance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 24. Cutting structural members for passage of pipes or for pipe hanger fastenings will not be permitted. The system shall be installed by an experienced firm regularly en

24、gaged in the installation of fire protection sprinkler systems in accordance with specified NFPA standards. The Contracting Officer may reject any proposed installer who cannot show evidence of such qualifications. Officers approval will not relieve the Contractor from his responsibilities to perfor

25、m all work in accordance with specifications and contract terms. Before acceptance of the sprinkler system, each unit of the completed system shall be disinfected as specified. After pressure tests have been made, the un

30、it to be disinfected shall be thoroughly flushed in accordance with NFPA 13 before introducing the chlorinating material. The chlorinating material shall be either liquid chlorine, calcium hypochlorite, or sodium hypochlorite, conforming to paragraph MATERIALS. The chlorinating material shall provid

31、e a dosage of not less than 50 ppm and shall be introduced into the sprinkler lines in an approved manner. The treated water shall be retained in the pipe long enough to destroy all nonspore forming bacteria. Except where a shorter period is approved, the retention time shall be at least 24 hours an

32、d shall produce not less than 10 ppm of chlorine throughout the line at the end of the retention period. All valves on the lines being disinfected shall be opened and closed several times during the contact period. The line shall then be flushed with clean water until the residual chlorine is reduce

33、d to less than 1.0 ppm. From several points in the unit, the Contracting Officer will take samples of water in properly sterilized containers for bacterial examination. The disinfection shall be repeated until tests indicate the absence of pollution for at least 2 full days. 3.5 ALARM FACILITIES Equ

Electric

36、power supply required for local alarms shall be taken from the house current supply line on the line side of the main switch through an independent switch and fuse block or circuit breaker. 3.5.2 Transmission of Alarm Signals Alarm signal wiring shall be connected to the building fire alarm control

37、in accordance with Section 16721 FIRE DETECTION AND ALARM SYSTEM. 3.5.3 Grouped Automatic Control Valves Where two or more alarm check valves, waterflow indicators, dry pipe valves, or deluge valves, or any combination of these facilities are supplied through one common underground branch connection

38、, one local waterflow signal and one local low air pressure signal and one transmitted coded waterflow signal shall be provided for each group. 3.6 FIELD PAINTING AND FINISHING Field painting and finishing are specified in Section O9900 PAINTING, GENERAL. 3.7 PRETEST INSPECTION After installation of

39、 the fire protection system is complete and prior to performing system tests, the system shall be thoroughly inspected by both the Contractor and the Contracting Officer or his authorized representative. The Contractor shall provide written notice to the Contracting Officer 30 3 days in advance of t

40、he inspection. 3.8 TESTS After completion of the pretest inspection the Contractor shall subject the system, including the underground supply connection, to the tests required by NFPA 13 as outlined in the approved test procedures, and shall furnish the Contracting Officer with a certificate as requ

41、ired. Testing of any wet pipe sprinkler system which contains plastic pipe and fittings shall incorporate the special testing requirements contained in the manufacturers written installation instructions. Systems or portions of systems using open sprinkler heads spray nozzles, and wet stand pipes, w

42、here conditions permit the discharge of water, shall be flow tested. Officer 30 3 days in advance of tests.
