、up 6PrefaceThis is the first edition of CSA A123.23, Product specification for polymer-modified bitumen sheet, prefabricated and reinforced. This Standard is intended to provide minimum requirements for prefabricated and reinforced polymer-modified bitumen sheets used in roofing. It has been developed
、 with the objective of replacingCGSB 37-GP-56, which was last amended in 1985.This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Bituminous Roofing Materials, under thejurisdiction of the Strategic Steering Committee on Construction and Civil Infrastructure, and has beenformally approved by th
、e Technical Committee.Notes:1) Use of the singular does not exclude the plural (and vice versa) when the sense allows.2) Although the intended primary application of this Standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that itremains the responsibility of the users of the Standard to judge
、its suitability for their particular purpose.3) This Standard was developed by consensus, which is defined by CSA Policy governing standardization Codeof good practice for standardization as “substantial agreement. Consensus implies much more than a simplemajority, but not necessarily unanimity”. It
、 is consistent with this definition that a member may be included inthe Technical Committee list and yet not be in full agreement with all clauses of this Standard.4) To submit a request for interpretation of this Standard, please send the following information toinquiriescsagroup.org and include “R
、equest for interpretation” in the subject line:a) define the problem, making reference to the specific clause, and, where appropriate, include anillustrative sketch;b) provide an explanation of circumstances surrounding the actual field condition; andc) where possible, phrase the request in such a w
、ay that a specific “yes” or “no” answer will address theissue.Committee interpretations are processed in accordance with the CSA Directives and guidelines governingstandardization and are available on the Current Standards Activities page at standardsactivities.csa.ca.5) This Standard is subject to
、review five years from the date of publication. Suggestions for its improvement willbe referred to the appropriate committee. To submit a proposal for change, please send the followinginformation to inquiriescsagroup.org and include “Proposal for change” in the subject line:a) Standard designation (
、number);b) relevant clause, table, and/or figure number;c) wording of the proposed change; andd) rationale for the change.A123.23-15Product specification for polymer-modified bitumen sheet, prefabricated and reinforcedAugust 2015 2015 CSA Group 7A123.23-15Product specification for polymer-modifiedbit

、er-modified bitumen sheets that are manufactured in a factory as a single, finished sheet and that are installed in a single layer or in multiple layers to form a system.1.1.3Although polymer-modified bitumen sheets also have other uses in the building envelope, this Standarddoes not consider these a

It is the responsibility of the designer toestablish (and demonstrate to the authority having jurisdiction, upon reques

、olymer-modified bitumen sheets; andc) Type C polymer-modified bitumen sheets reinforced with a mat composed of a combination ofglass and polyester fibres.1.2.2 GradesThe following grades of polymer-modified bitumen sheets are covered by this Standard:a) Grades 1 and 2 polymer-modified bitumen sheets intended to be exposed. Grade 1 is surfacedwith mineral granules on the weather side.
