Enclosures for electrical equipment not built into or forming part of a machine, -shall either be constructed in accordance with Enclosure V in the latest issue of GSA Specification C22.2 No. 94, Special Purp

17、ose Enclosures, or shall conform to the following: (a) Covers shall be (i) hinged, or otherwise arranged, so that they cannot be readily removed, (ii) gasketted, or otherwise constructed to en- sure a close fit, and (iii) held closed by captive bolts, spring latches, or other secure means; NOTE: In

18、the case of push-button stations, limit switches, and similar small control devices, (i) and (iii) are not required. (b) Mounting holes for enclosures shall be external to the enclosures; (c) Mounting holes for equipment shall not pass through the enclosure walls unless filled with riveted or welded

19、 studs; (d) No openings shall be provided in the enclosures due to forming or other operations. This will not preclude close fitting flanges, either riveted or spot welded; (e) No multiple conduit knockouts shall be provithd in enclosures, and if single conduit knockouts arc 10 CSA SPECIFICAT0N C22.

20、2 No. 105 provided, they shall be constructed so that there is no visible opening with the knockout in place. Nom: It is recommended that either threaded conduit openings be prozided or that holes for conduit be cut to suit individual installations. (f) Thickness of material for enclosures shall be

21、as required by the Specifications of this Code cover- ing the particular devices, except that if the con- trols for two or more motors are placed in a single enclosure, the requirements of Clause 12 (a) and (b) shall apply. 12. Enclosures for electrical equipment for use under the provisions of Clau

22、se 20(b), which are built into or form part of a machrne base or frame, shall comply with the following: (a) The wall thickness shall be not less than No. 14 U.S. sheet-metal gauge if of sheet steel, not less than 3/32 inch if of malleable iron, or not less than Y8 inch if of other cast metal; (b) C

23、overplates shall not he thinner than specified for walls; (c) If the enclosures are restricted in volume to the approximate size of the electrical equipment con- tained and, if equipment for the control of more than one motor is grouped under a single set of overcurrent devices, enclosures shall hav

24、e clear openings of at least 2 square inches vented to other compartments within the machines. The compartments shall have a volume equal to at least one-half of the volume of the enclosures, and shall be free from the accumulation of any inflammable materials. Spacings 13. Adequate spacings between

25、 bare live parts of op- posite polarity, and between bare live parts and metal parts which may be grounded, shall be provided. NoTE: See also the latest of the following GSA Specifi- cations: C22.2 No. 4, Enclosed Szcitches; C22.2 No. 11, Fractional-horsepower Electric Motors for other than Ha.z7ard

26、ous Locations; G22.2 No. 14, Industrial Control Equiptnent for Ordinary (Non-hazardous) Locations; C22.2 No. 54, Integral-horsepower Electric Motors for other than Hazardous Location.s. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FOR WOODWORKING MACHINERY 11. Connection to 14. Supply-circuit connections shall be provided

27、in Supply Circuit accordance with the requirements of Specification C22.2 No. 0. There shall be not more than one such connection on a machine for each separate source of supply. If more than one source of supply is necessary*, the several connections shall be grouped at one point. Supply circuit co

28、nnections shall be readily accessible. *Jt is strongly recom,nended that only one source of supply be used on a machine and that sources of control power be obtaincd wizen necessary by the use of transformers or rectifiers supplied as part of a machine. Supply-circuit 15. If manually-operated discon

29、necting means (e.g., Disconnecting switches or circuit breakers) are mounted on machines Means to isolate the supply circuits, they shall open all un- grounded conductors of their respective circuits simul- taneously. 16. If more than one such disconnecting means are provided for multiple supply cir

30、cuits, they shall be grouped at one point. 17. Such disconnecting means shall be readily ac- cessible unless they are designed for isolating purposes only and are not capable of successfully opening the cir- cuit under load, in which case they shall be rendered in- accessible to unauthorized persons

31、. The “off“ position shall be clearly indicated. 18. If enclosed switcfies are used as control devices and if any part of the load is a motor load, motor-circuit switches shall be used, unless the total load of the circuits is greater than the rating of. the largest motor- circuit switches available

32、, in which case the switches shall be treated as isolating switches in accordance with the requirements of Clause 17. Motors 19. Motors shall be of adequate capacity for their particular application. Motors may draw currents in excess of the normal full-load currents of the motors while cutting, pro

33、vided that machines comply with the test requirements specified in Clause 51. The type of motor considered as meeting the mini- mum requirements shall be the so called “protected type“, which is equivalent to dripproof construction, but it need not be subjected to dripproof test require- ments. If m

34、achines are of types producing fine dust, they shall have either inherent dust-collecting systems or shall be provided with suitable exhausting means for 12 CSA SPECIFICATION C22.2 No. 105 connection to external exhausting systems of adequate capacity, unless the motors are of the totally-enclosed t

35、ype. Noms: 1. Where motors are built into a machine so that the frame of the machine forms part or all of the motor enclosure, the protection afforded the complete motor assembly shall be equivalent to that required in this clause. 2. (a) Motor-control equipment shall be of types recognized as suitable for their particular applica- tion, a

37、nd shall be capable of satisfactory per- formance under the starting conditions and duty cycle of the motors with which they are used. (b) Motor-control equipment not specifically ap- proved for group fusing may be grouped on a branch circuit under both the following condi- tions: (i) The branch cir

38、cuit overcurrent protection shall have a rating or setting not greater than 300 per cent of the full-load current rating of the largest motor of the group, plus the sum of the full-load current ratings of all the other motors in the group which may be in operation at one time, but in no case more th

39、an 200 amperes at 250 volts or less, 100 amperes at voltages between 251 and 750; (ii) All contacts which open motor primary circuits are enclosed in one or more en- closures as specified in Clause 12. Enclosures not built into or forming part of the machine base or frame shall conform to the requir

40、ements of Clause 11. (c) Motor-control equipment not conforming with (b) above as regards circuit protection or en- closure, shall be of types approved for group fusing, if it is intended to group controls under ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FOR WOODWORKING MACHINERY 13 the protection of a single set of over

41、current de- vices rated or set at more than 15 amperes. Low-voltage protection shall be provided for all Protection motors, the unintentional starti

42、ng of which would be li- able to create a hazard. Nort: If the hasard is reduced to a reasonable degree by the provision of guards or other safety devices, this require- ment shall not apply. Overload 22. Each motor shall have individual overload pro- Protection tection, except for the following cas

43、es where it may be dispensed with: (a) A motor rated at 1 horsepower or less, having a manual starter, and where it may be readily de- termined from the starting position that the motor is running, if the motor is on an individual branch circuit or if it is on a branch circuit sup- plying a group of

44、 motors having overcurrent protection rated or set at not more than 15 amperes; or (b) A motor whose operating requirements are such that it is impracticable to obtain proper overload protection, if the motor is on a branch circuit having proper overcurrent protection, as speci- fied in Part I of th

45、is Code. 23. If motors are provided with inherent overheat- ing protective devices, such controls shall comply with the requirements of the latest issue of CSA Specifica- tion C22.2 No. 77, Inherent Overheating Protective Devices for Motors, and they shall be of the hand reset type, if the unintenti

46、onal starting of the motor would be liable to create a hazard. interlocking 24. If the failure of one or more motors to operate of Controls is liable to cause injuries to operators, or damage to machines or processes due to the continued operation of other motors, the controls shall be arranged so t

47、hat the failure of any motor will cause the stoppage of any other motors that might cause such injuries or damage. Push Buttons 23. Push buttons or switches for starting and con- trolling motors shall be located or guarded so that there will be no liability of motors being started unintentional- ly

48、due to accidental operations, and shall be interlocked mechanically or electrically, if necessary, to prevent hazardous operation of machines. 14 CSA SPECIFICATION C22.2 No. 05 Subject to the above requirements, start buttons may be of the mushroom type. Nom: It is recommended that ina,stcr stop but

49、tons be of the mushroom type or equivalent construction to permit quick operation. Location of 26. Electrical equipment shall not be located Machine Controls (a) in compartments containing mechanical controls or adjustments which must be accessible during normal operation of a machine, unless such equip- ment is separately enclosed; (b) so that it interferes with mechanical controls or adjustments, or, so fa
