These replacement pages are to be inserted into your copy of the Standard; the pages replaced should be kept for reference. 9 C22.2 NO. 109-M1981 Commercial Cooking Appliances 1. Scope 1.1 This Standard

18、applies to cord-connected and permanently connected electrically heated commercial cooking appliances for use on nominal system voltages of 600 V and less, designed to be used in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. 1.2 This Standard applies to electric ranges, ovens, b

19、roilers, fry kettles, griddles, sandwich toasters, toasters, food warmers, coffee stoves, urns, hot-plates, popcorn machines, liquid heaters, pressure cookers*, utensil warmers, and similar appliances. *Pressure vessels that may operate at pressures of 15 psi and greater are subject to inspection by

20、 pressure vessel inspection authorities. 1.3 This Standard applies to food cooking and warming appliances for use in non-hazardous locations in com- mercial establishments. 1.4 This Standard does not apply to electrical equip- ment on coal- or gas-heated cooking equipment or to appliances employing

21、high-frequency currents. 2. Definitions 2.1 The following definitions apply in this Standard: Combination temperatufe-regulating and -limiting control means a device that functions to regulate the temperature under normal conditions of use, and also serves to prevent a hazard that might result from

22、conditions of abnormal operation of the appliance; Heater element means a complete or partial assembly of heating element, electrical insulation (eg, refractory, mica), metal sheath, glass or quartz envelope or panel, thermal insulation, and frame or adapter for holding the assembly together and fas

23、tening it in the appliance; and leads or terminal connections or both, which may or may not include bolts and nuts: Temperature-regulating control means a device that functions only to regulate the temperature under normal conditions of use, the failure of which would not result in a hazard; Tempera

24、ture-limiting control means a device that func- tions only under conditions which produce abnormal temperatures, the failure of which might result in a hazard. 3. General Requirements 3.1 General requirements applicable to this Standard are given in the latest issue of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0, Defi

32、ping or pressure vessels, integral with appliances which may operate at more than atmospheric pressure shall meet the requirements of CSA Standard 651, Code for the Construction and Inspection of Boilers and Pressure Vessels, except that, where the pressure is less than 15 psi absolute, they may be

33、subject to investigation 4. Construction 4.1 General 4.1.1 Electric component parts shall be types specifi- cally approved for the use intended or shall be investigated as an integral part of and with appliances. 4.1.2 Controls, switches, etc., in addition to conforming to the intent of a particular

34、 specification covering that type of device, shall be investigated with respect to their suitability for commercial cooking application 4.1.3 The input to cord-connected appliances for use on nominal 120 V branch circuits protected by overcurrent devices rated or set at not more than 15 A shall not

35、exceed 1500 W at 115 V. (Refer to Clause 6.2 for the rating test.) 4.1.4 Stability. Appliances shall meet the requirements of Clause 6.8. 4.1.5 Closed-in cooking areas that are not vented externally to the appliance to prevent undue accumu- lation of moisture, grease, etc., shall be subject to inves

36、tigation. 4.2 Enclosures 4.2.1 Appliances shall have enclosures of noncombus- tible, absorption-resistant material, which shall enclose all live parts except power supply cords. 4.2.2 Enclosures of appliances shall be so formed and assembled that they will: (a) Have the strength and rigidity necessa

37、ry to resist the abuses to which they may besubjected, without increasing the fire or accident hazard due to deformation of the enclosure with resulting reduction of spacings, loosening or displacement of parts, etc.; (b) Except in the case of recessed open-wire heating elements, afford protection a

38、gainst accidental contact with live parts; and (c) Afford protection for electrical components against the deleterious effects of moisture, steam, grease or other injurious material that may be encountered in normal operation. 4.2.3 Metallic Enclosures. The thickness of metal for enclosures shall co

39、mply with Table 1. 4.2.4 Non-metallic Enclosures, Supports 4.2.4.1 nents shall: (a) moisture-resisting properties; (b) Have limiting temperatures not less than the maximum temperatures to which they may be exposed during normal operation: and (c) Meet the flame test in Clause 6.18. If the enclosure

40、and support have an inner flame resistant liner, the combination shall meet the flame test and the enclosure requirements (also refer to Clause 6.18.4). 41、g Appliances 13 Notes: (1) If the supply connection box is in the same com- partment as the overcurrent protective devices, the access door may be that required by Clause 4.2.6.7 provided the marking of Clause 5.4 is applied. (2) A container removable without the use of a tool will be acceptable to

42、gain access to the supply connection for the initial inspection. 4.5.1.7 A permanently connected appliance having a supply connection box location not meeting the accessibil- ity requirements of Clause 4.5.1.6 shall be provided with: (a) Terminal studs for the internal supply connections; and (b) 6

43、feet or more of flexible metallic conduit with conductors, including a grounding conductor, or of armoured cable to extend the point of supply to an accessible location. 4.5.1.8 There shall be provision for connection to only one source of supply. 4.5.2 Terminal Parts 4.5.2.1 Wire-binding terminal p

44、arts and the identification of terminal parts and leads shall comply with the require- ments of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0, Definitions and General Requirements. (See also CSA Standard 835.2, Binding Head Screws.) 4.5.2.2 Rigid wiring terminals shall thread into metal and shall be prevented by means o

45、ther than friction from turning or shifting which may result in reducing the spacings required by Clause 4.18. 4.5.2.3 Permanently connected appliances requiring connection to an identified conductor shall have one terminal or lead identified for the connection of the identified conductor of the sup

46、ply circuit if they have lampholders, element holders of the screw-shell type, single-pole switches, or automatic controls having a manually operable single-pole switch. 4.5.3 Cord-Connected Appliances 4.5.3.1 The flexible cords of power supply cords and cord sets shall be Types SO, SJO, HSJO, or eq

47、uivalent, and shall be of a length that is: (a) Not less than 2 feet, nor more than 3 feet, for counter-top liquid heating appliances with pouring spouts arranged such that the appliance must be lifted or tilted from the supporting surface; (b) Notlessthan2feet nor morethan6feet,forallother counter-

48、top and table-top appliances not covered in Item (a); (c) Not less than 3 feet, nor more than 10 feet, for floor supported appliances except that Types GTFPD, GTFPO, or equivalent, may be used in lengths not exceeding 4 feet if there is little likelihood that the appliance will be moved frequently a

49、fter installation. 4.5.3.2 Power supply cords shall have a suitable attachment plug having a current rating not less than 125% of the marked ampere rating of the appliance. 4.5.3.3 The jacket of power supply cords shall be oil- resistant if they will be exposed to grease or oil in the normal cooking operation. 4.5.3.4 Flexible cords for cord-connected appliances shall have a current rating at least equal to the m
