5、 and similar wiring devices intended for use in electronic and electrical applications as follows (see Figure 1):(a) Type 0 rated up to 8.3 A and up to 30 V rms (42 V peak);(b) Type 1A rated up to 8.3 A and from 30 V to 600 V ac or dc, or both;(c) Type 1B rated from 8.3 A up to 200 A and up to 30 V

6、 rms (42 V peak);(d) Type 2 rated from 8.3 A up to 31 A and from 30 V to 600 V ac or dc, or both;(e) Type 3 rated from 31 A up to 200 A and from 30 V to 600 V ac or dc, or both; (f) Type 4 rated from more than 200 A up to and including 1000 A, and up to 600 V ac or dc; and(g) Type 5 rated less than

10、n CSA Standard C22.2 No. 182.2-M.2 Definitions2.1 The following definitions apply in this Standard:Connector (cable connector) a receptacle that is intended to provide power with means for attachment to electrical conductors.Contact a conductive element in a component that mates with a corresponding

11、 element to provide an electrical path.Elastomer a macromolecular material that at room temperature returns rapidly to approximately its initial dimensions and shape after substantial deformation by a weak stress and release of the stress.Enclosure the case or housing into which the insulator and co

14、holds a plug or connector in position when it is in proper engagement and prevents its unintentional withdrawal.Plug (attachment plug) a device that is intended to receive power when coupled with a mating device, and that establishes connection between conductors of the two assemblies.Power inlet a

15、permanently mounted plug intended to receive power from a cable connector.Receptacle (outlet) a device intended to provide power to an inserted plug and that is usually installed as a fixed outlet.Switched outlet an outlet with an associated or integral switching device to disconnect the supply from

16、 the outlet contacts.Terminal an accessible conductive part provided on a contact for connecting a conductor.Terminal, wire binding screw a terminal in which the conductor is clamped under the head of the screw and the clamping pressure is applied directly by the head of the screw.Thermoplastic a pl

17、astic that repeatedly can be softened by heating and hardened by cooling through a temperature range characteristic of the plastic, and, which in the softened state, can be shaped by flow into articles by moulding or extrusion.Thermoset a material that, after having been cured by heat or other means

25、ll comply with the requirements for that component and shall be used in accordance with its recognized rating and other limitations of use.4.2 InterchangeabilityLike configurations shall be compatible with each other, but those of different configurations shall not.Note: Typical examples of configur

26、ations are shown in Appendix A, but the Standard is not limited to these configurations.4.3 Insulating Materials4.3.1 The insulating materials referred to in this Clause are those that are depended upon for maintenance of electrical spacings or that may be exposed to arcing when the plug is disconne

29、evices shall have a minimum flammability classification of HB in accordance with CSA Standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0.17.4.3.5 In evaluating insulating materials that have not been accepted previously in a particular application, consideration should be given to the following attributes in comparison wi

31、 apply to Type 0 devices marked in accordance with Clause 5.2(v).4.4 Protection Against CorrosionNon-current-carrying parts of ferrous material (other than stainless steel), including mounting screws, shall be protected against corrosion in accordance with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.4.5 Current-Carryi

32、ng Parts4.5.1 Iron or steel, whether plain or plated, shall not be used for parts that are depended upon to carry a significant portion of the current except for high temperature applications and bonding terminals that may be of suitably plated or stainless steel.Note: Wire binding screws are consid

33、ered to carry a significant portion of the current.4.5.2 Suitable means shall be provided for retaining live parts within such limits of alignment as to reasonably ensure that plugs will enter devices, such as receptacles and connectors, in the intended manner.4.5.3 Except as permitted in Clause 4.5

34、4, live parts shall be secured in place so as to ensure that the spacings specified in Table 1 are maintained through air or over surface between any insulated live metal part and(a) an uninsulated live metal part of opposite polarity;(b) an uninsulated grounded metal part;(c) an exposed non-curren

35、t-carrying metal part.4.5.4 Spacings less than those specified in Clause 4.5.3 shall be permitted if the device meets the dielectric strength test in Clause 6.6.4.5.5 Spacings for Type 5 devices shall meet the minimum requirements for the intended end-use application.(Replaces p. 14, July 2010)14 Ca

37、ce is completed before continuity is established between any other mating contact pair.4.7 Terminal Parts4.7.1 AmpacityA device shall be provided with suitable terminal means or leads for the connection of conductors having an ampacity not less than the current rating for which they are intended.4.7

38、2 Receptacle Terminals4.7.2.1 Field wiring terminals of a receptacle shall be located or protected so they are not likely to be forced against the wiring in the terminal box or compartment during installation.4.7.2.2 An original equipment manufacturers installed device with crimp type terminals sha

39、ll be assembled in accordance with the manufacturers specifications.4.7.2.3 Wire binding screws used in making electrical connections shall not be smaller than indicated in Table 2. Wiring terminal screws shall thread into metal.4.7.2.4 Terminal plates through which binding head or machine screws ar

40、e threaded shall be at least 0.76 mm thick and shall have at least two complete threads.4.7.2.5 The terminations of a field wiring device, other than for soldered connections and those intended to accommodate No. 14 to 10 AWG conductors by the use of a wire binding screw, shall comply with the requi

41、rements of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 65 or C22.2 No. 188.4.8 Contacts4.8.1 Contacts shall be made of copper, copper alloy, or equivalent material.4.8.2 A receptacle or connector, rated above 30 V rms (42.4 V peak), intended for usage external to the end equipment shall have protection for exposed live

42、contacts and terminals, when assembled as intended.4.8.3 Mating devices of the 1 A, 2, 3, 4, or 5 Type shall not have exposed live contacts during engagement or withdrawal (see Clause 6.9).4.9 PolarizationA polarized device incorporating two or more contacts shall be keyed or of such design that any

44、1 The manufacturers name or other recognized identification symbol shall be marked on each device, where practicable, in a permanent manner.5.2 The following shall be marked on the device or in or on the smallest unit container or carton:(i) the catalogue designation;(ii) the electrical rating in bo

45、th volts and amperes;(iii) whether ac or dc, if restricted; and(iv) the following (or equivalent) statements, where applicable:CAUTION: NOT FOR INTERRUPTING CURRENTandATTENTION : NE PAS UTILISER POUR COUPER LE COURANT.(v) on products compliant with Clause 4.3.6:FOR USE IN CLASS 2 CIRCUITS ONLY.Note:

46、 The French equivalent of this marking is “UTILISER DANS LES CIRCUITS DE CLASSE 2 SEULEMENT”.Assembly or tooling instructions and a reference to an appropriate parts list shall be provided, if applicable.6 TestsNote: Guidance for the minimum quantities of specimens to be tested and the tests to be a

47、pplied to the types of devices is given in Appendix B.6.1 Accelerated Aging6.1.1 A moulded rubber component shall show no apparent deterioration and shall show no greater change in hardness than five numbers, as gauged in Clause 6.1.2, as the result of a 96 h exposure to oxygen at a pressure of 2070

48、 70 kPa and a temperature of 70 1C.6.1.2 Where possible, the complete component shall be tested. The hardness of the rubber shall be determined as the average of five readings with a suitable gauge such as the Rex Hardness Gauge or the Shore Durometer. The component shall be exposed to oxygen for 96

49、 h, in accordance with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.3, using the method for exposure to accelerated aging (oxygen-pressure) of extruded insulation, jackets, and similar coverings. The device shall be allowed to condition at room temperature for 4 h or more after removal from the oxygen bomb. The hardness shall be determined again as the average of five readings. The difference between the average original hardness reading and the average reading taken after exposure to oxygen shall be the change in hardness.6.1.3 A device that has
