37、by means of a flat-f aced 2-inch (50 mm) diameter rod for a period of 1 minute. This test shall be made on a sample preset insert installed on an underfloor raceway unit. The permanent deformation or distortion in shape, following this test, shall be measured on the preset insert and shall not excee

38、d 1/8 inch (3 mm). Clause 8.8.3 Add a new Clause as follows: 8.8.3 Plastic Floor Fitting Covers Flush With Finished Floors Compliance with Clause 5.2(e) shall be determined as follows: A 300-pound (136 kg) load shall be applied on the centre of the cover by means of a flat-faced 2-inch (50 mm) diame

Amendment No. 12 C22.2 No. 80-1978 Clause 8.9 Add a new Clause as follows: Tests on Floor Fitting Enclosures Not Complying With the Thickness Requirements of Table 3 Metal or nonmetallic floor fitting enclosures not compl

40、ying with the thickness requirements of Table 3 shall withstand the following tests: (a) Horizontal impact Resistance (for vertical sides when exposed) Samples of the receptacle fittings with the outer covering shall be mounted as described in the manufacturers installation instructions. A 2-inch (5

41、0 mm) diameter, 1.18 pound (0.5 kg) steel ball on a cord shall be allowed to fall in a swinging motion (as in a pendulum) so as to result in a 5 ftibf (6.8 J) impact. Each sample shall be impacted so as to receive one strike each on the centre, and on the right and left of the centre sections on one

42、 side of the device. The devices shall be examined for damage. (b) Vertical Impact A self-contained device shall be mounted on a wood board and subjected to a vertical impact test. The top of the device shall be impacted by dropping a cylindrical steel weight, 2 inches (50 mm) in diameter and weighi

43、ng 10 pounds (4.54 kg), through a guided vertical distance of 12 inches (300 mm). The bottom of the weight shall be flat with no sharp edges. At the completion of the test, the samples shall be inspected for mechanical damage. No cracks or other damage shall be observed. (C) Crushing Samples shall b

44、e placed on a steel plate and subjected to a crushing force of 1000 pounds (450 kg). The crushing force shall be maintained for a period of 5 minutes. The force shall be applied to the top of the device by a flat steel plate larger than the overall dimensions of the device. At the completion of the
