20、gust 201210.6.2.2 The macro-etch test specimens shall meet the designated effective throat thickness. They shall also be visually inspected and meet the acceptance criteria specified in Table 8 and Figure 17.10.6.3 Fracture test10.6.3.1 Fracture test specimens shall be prepared in accordance with Fi

21、gure 13 and shall be tested in accordance with Figure 20.10.6.3.2 The fracture test specimens shall show the specified penetration and no lack of fusion nor any cracks. They shall also be visually inspected and meet the acceptance criteria specified in Table 8 and Figure 17.10.6.4 Side bend test10.6

22、4.1 Four specimens with thickness equal to the required throat thickness of the weld shall be cut out of the assemblies at locations indicated in Figure 9, and subjected to side bend tests.10.6.4.2 Side bend tests shall be examined for cracks or other open flaws. A specimen shall be considered to h

23、ave failed if a crack or other open flaw exceeding 3 mm in any dimension is present after bending.10.7 Fillet welds10.7.1 GeneralDetails of the test assembly shall simulate construction conditions or shall be as shown in Figure 14.10.7.2 Macro-etch test10.7.2.1 The macro-etch test specimens shall be

24、 given a surface at least equal to a smooth-filed surface and then etched to show the weld shape and penetration. Hot caustic soda should be used as an etchant, to be followed by a water rinse and drying.10.7.2.2 The sections shall show complete penetration into the root. They shall also be visually

25、 inspected and meet the acceptance criteria specified in Table 8 and Figure 17.10.7.3 Fracture test10.7.3.1 The fracture test specimens shall be tested to produce failure through the weld throat. Fillet welds shall be bent to put the weld root in tension until failure occurs. This may be done by cla

26、mping one plate and bending the other plate as shown in Figure 19.10.7.3.2 The fracture specimens shall show complete penetration into the root and no lack of fusion nor any cracks. They shall also be visually inspected and meet the acceptance criteria specified in Table 8 and Figure 17.17(Replaces

27、p. 17, March 2011)W47.2-11 2012 CSA GroupAugust 201210.8 RetestsWhen test specimens have failed, the fabricator may prepare a new weld test assembly. The new test assembly shall be in full compliance with the appropriate test requirements applicable to the original test assembly.11 Qualification of

28、welding personnel11.1 General11.1.1 The qualification of welding personnel shall be governed by (a) the classification;(b) process;(c) mode of process application;(d) weld type; (e) position combination; (f) thickness range; and(g) electrode alloy group.11.1.2 Welding of the qualification test assem

29、blies, as required by this Standard, shall be carried out in the presence of the CWBs representative. Mechanical testing and evaluation of the specimens shall be performed by an accredited testing organization (ATO), a welding inspection organization certified to CSA W178.1 for mechanical testing, o

30、r other organizations or laboratories acceptable to the CWB; alternatively, the testing shall be witnessed by a CWB representative. Test specimen preparation and testing may be performed by the company; however, the evaluation of the specimens shall be performed by the CWB.11.1.3 Qualifications spec

31、ified in this Standard are designed to be indicative of basic skills. However, continuous guidance by a qualified welding supervisor and additional instruction as indicated shall be provided to ensure that welding personnel follow qualified welding procedures and consistently meet the applicable qua

32、lity standards.11.1.4 Welding personnel may be check tested at any time in full or in part, whenever the CWB has reason to doubt the welders or welding operators ability to perform in accordance with his or her qualification.11.1.5 The qualification of welders and welding operators by the CWB may be

33、 carried out, by mutual agreement, at locations other than company premises. The qualification of welders and welding operators may be carried out, at the discretion of the CWB, by contractual arrangement with organizations such as companies, unions, and educational institutions. The CWB shall issue

34、 documentation reflecting successful qualification obtained through such arrangements.11.1.6 Special conditions can exist with regards to a companys welding practices or equipment, or to particular joint configurations and access. In cases where standard tests are considered insufficient to cover th

35、ese conditions, separate qualifications shall be required. These tests shall be defined by the company or by the CWB. 36、st assemblies shown in Figures 21 to 25 and 28 shall be qualified for welding materials 1.5 mm (1/16 in) and thicker. Fillet weld tests shall qualify for all sizes of fillets.11.1.8 Welding personnel may be qualified on the basis of any of the following methods:(a) by successfully meeting the qualif

37、ication requirements specified in this Standard;(b) by successfully performing a procedure qualification test in accordance with this Standard. In certain cases the qualification will be limited to that procedure and is only valid while the welder or welding operator remains employed by his/her empl

38、oyer at the time of qualification. This qualification shall be nontransferable. For cases where a procedure qualification test or combination of tests meets or exceeds the requirements for a particular classification, a transferable qualification may be issued; or(c) by successfully meeting the qual

39、ification requirements specified in other recognized national or international standards. The qualification system and test requirements shall be similar to and meet or exceed the requirements of this Standard and be accepted by the CWB. A qualification record providing evidence satisfactory to the

40、CWB that previous qualification tests were successfully completed and duly witnessed by a qualified independent third party shall be provided for the qualification to be recognized. In this case, qualification shall include all conditions and limitations on the original qualification including remai

41、ning time of validity or the period of effectiveness of the qualification as specified in Clause 11.11.1.1, whichever is less. The qualification issued by the CWB shall be nontransferable.11.2 Classifications11.2.1 Welding personnel shall be qualified in one or more of the following classifications

42、see Clause 3):(a) T classification;(b) S classification;(c) FW classification; and(d) WT classification.Note: See Clause 11.7 for classification requirements.11.2.2 Qualification for T classification shall qualify for S, FW, and for WT classifications in the same process, mode, position, and GMAW f

43、iller alloy group, but not vice versa.11.2.3 Qualification for S classification shall also qualify for FW and WT classifications in the same process, mode, position, and GMAW filler alloy group, but not vice versa.11.2.4 Qualification for FW classification shall also qualify for WT classification in

44、 the same process, mode, position, and GMAW filler alloy group, but not vice versa.11.2.5 Qualification for WT classification shall qualify for WT classification only.11.3 ProcessThe following processes or process variations shall require separate qualification:(a) gas metal arc welding (GMAW); and(

45、b) gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and plasma arc welding (PAW) as a process group.Note: Conventional process qualifies to pulse variation, but not vice versa.19(Replaces p. 19, March 2011)W47.2-11 2012 CSA GroupAugust 201211.4 Modes of process application11.4.1 The four modes of process application

46、 are listed below. Separate qualification shall be required for each mode used by the welder or welding operator except as noted in Clause 11.4.2:(a) manual welding;(b) semi-automatic welding;(c) mechanized welding; and(d) automatic welding.See Clause 3.11.4.2 Welders qualified for semi-automatic we

47、lding shall be considered qualified in the same process(es) as welding operators for single electrode mechanized and automatic welding. They shall be subject to the conditions and limitations of their welder qualifications, except the period of validity shall be indefinite.11.5 Weld type and positio

48、n combination11.5.1 The qualification of welding personnel in a given class and classification shall be in accordance with Table 9 unless testing follows Clause 11.5.4. A change in progression in vertical welding shall be qualified separately.11.5.2 Welding personnel may be qualified for a higher* c

49、lass within one classification by performing the required tests that are additional to those already passed, except as specified in Clause 11.5.4.*Horizontal is higher than flat; vertical is higher than horizontal; and overhead is higher than vertical.11.5.3 If the qualification test assemblies specified in Clause 11.7 are not applicable, the fabricator may submit alternate welder or welding operator qualification test assemblies to be approved by the CWB. However, for such qualifications, when successful, nontransferable qualification identification documents shall be
