、gl. Freisgr. Ver1r:Nr 0104 Page 2 DILP 1367 Part 1 Emlanations At the request of the majority of manufacturer6 of seal wires, and especially of representatives of two important group6 of users, vir,., the packaging and electrical industries, the Standard DIN 1367 has been altered to DIN 1367 Part 1.

、 DIN 1367 Part ? remains restricted to seal wires of galvanized steel wire, and the contenta are as good as unchanged in comparison with the Draft December 1971 issue. Subsequent Parts are to be reserved for seal wires of non-ferrous metals or plastics. As compared with the March 1958 issue, the fin

、ish “black annealed“ is no longer included, as it no longer stands up to technical requirements. The designation outside diameter, i.e., greatest diameter of turn X core wire, which was previously wed, has not found favour in practice. A change was therefore made to diameter of core wire and diamete

、r of outer wire. The Table ia arranged in order of increasing diameter of the core wire. The corresponding diameters of the outer wires are also shown. In addition, the number of turne of the outer wire per 100 mm length of the core wire is quoted, as this information is eaeier to check. The outside

、 diameter of the turn is retained, but has been entered as a- dimension, because the addition for tolerance has to be considered here. In conformity with the “Units of Measurement Act“, the breaking load and tensile strength are no longer expressed in kg or kg/mm2 respectively, but in N or N/mm2. As

、 proviaion i6 made for a tolerance of +lo % on the breaking load, the factor IO, and not 9.8065, as stipulated in DIN 1301, haa been used for covert- ing kp to N. Calculation of the breaking load was done on the baeis of a mean tensile strength of 400 N/& (40 kg/mm2). It proved difficult to specify the material with precision. None the less, apart from general information on the range of tensile strength, the steels D5-I and D9-I have been listed as the steal grades in most frequent use. The form of galvanizing is left to the manufacturer.
