、ared by Technical Committee NA 031-04-04 AA Schluche und Armaturen of the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (FNFW) (Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee). Hoses as in this standard serve to convey fire extinguishing media (water, water containing non-compressible additives). When empty,
、 such hoses can be rolled or folded flat. This revision of the DIN 14811 series was necessary to bring the standards up to the current state of technology. The original intention was to develop a European Standard at CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, on “Non-percolating layflat delive
、ry hoses and hose assemblies for pumps and vehicles” (prEN 1924). Together with DIN EN 14540 “Firefighting hoses Non-percolating layflat hoses for fixed systems”, prEN 1924 was to replace the German Standards DIN 14811-1:1990-01, DIN 14811-2:1977-11, DIN 14811-3:1977-11 and DIN 14811-4:1976-02, whic
、h specify requirements and tests for layflat hoses. However, the final draft of prEN 1924 did not receive the necessary majority during the CEN formal voting procedure and the project was stopped. The four DIN 14811 standards have therefore been fully revised and combined into one standard, the pres

DIN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights Amendments This standard differs from DIN 14811-1:1990-01, DIN 14811-2:1977-11, DIN 14811-3:1
、977-11 and DIN 14811-4:1976-02 as follows: a) The four parts have been combined into one standard. b) Terms and definitions are now included. c) Hoses are now classified into three types according to their design. d) The number of inside diameters has been increased and some inside diameters have be
、en combined into preferred series. e) The maximum hose masses have been modified and specified as masses per unit length. f) Hose lengths have been modified. g) Requirements regarding hose assembly with binding and binding wires have been modified. h) The number of permissible hose colours has been
、increased and the hose colour is now to be indicated in the test number by means of a numeral. i) Performance requirements for finished hoses have been completely revised and brought in line with the relevant European Standards on fire hoses. j) Requirements for higher pressure hoses for higher pres
、sure pumps are now specified. k) Requirements regarding the designation, marking and handling of hoses have been modified. l) Specifications regarding the testing of hoses have been fully revised, i.e. brought in line with the relevant European Standards on fire hoses and presented in several normat
、ive annexes. m) The standards have been editorially revised. Previous editions DIN 14106 = DIN FEN 106: 1925-04, 1929-09 DIN 14811: 1953-06, 1955-11, 1959-05 DIN 14811-1: 1968-09, 1982-01, 1985-04, 1990-01 DIN 14811-2: 1970-11, 1977-11 DIN 14811-3: 1971-07, 1977-11 DIN 14811-4: 1976-02 DIN 14811:200
、8-01 5 Introduction This standard is mainly concerned with fire service layflat hoses for firefighting and covers hoses used manually to control and extinguish fires as well as hoses required to deliver large quantities of water over long distances. Table 1 gives fourteen possible inside diameters.
、The number of hose sizes has been extended from five to fourteen to include eight new sizes which are widely used in other countries but which have not yet been approved as being in accordance with DIN 14811 by the Zentralprfstelle fr Feuerlschschluche (German central fire hose testing laboratory) i
、n Celle, Germany. The ninth new hose size (inside diameter 152 mm) is also used in Germany. This extension of the number of hose sizes takes account of the fact that DIN 14811 is widely used outside Germany as a basis for purchasing fire hoses. The European Standard prEN 1924 which would have covere
、d these new hose sizes did not receive the necessary majority during the CEN formal voting procedure and the project was stopped. The five hose sizes previously designated as D, C 42, C 52, B and A hoses continue to be used in Germany and are designated as preferred series in the present standard. T
、able 1 clearly identifies hoses whose use is to be avoided in Germany. In analogy to the European Standards developed by CEN/TC 192/WG 1 “Firefighting hoses” DIN EN 694, DIN EN 1947, DIN EN 14540 and DIN EN ISO 14557 the conformity of hoses with the present standard is to be established in an indepe
、ndent certification process involving testing and continuous inspection in conjunction with a review of the manufacturers approved quality management system, e.g. in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. Requests for fire hose tests are to be submitted to the Zentralprfstelle fr Feuerlschschluche (German
、 central fire hose testing laboratory) of the Niederschsische Landesfeuerwehrschule in Celle, Germany. Permissible hose colours are specified in Table 4. DIN 14811:2008-01 6 1 Scope This standard specifies requirements and test methods for non-percolating layflat delivery hoses for fire fighting pur
、poses which serve to convey fire extinguishing media (water, water containing non-compressible additives) and which, when empty, can be folded or rolled flat. The standard applies to layflat delivery hoses intended for use at a minimum ambient temperature of 25 C and a working pressure of 1,6 MPa (1
、6 bar) for D 25 to B 75 hoses, or 1,2 MPa (12 bar) for A 102 to F 152 hoses. NOTE 1 Additional requirements for high pressure hoses are given in clause 7. NOTE 2 All pressures are gauge pressures and are expressed in megapascals. 1 MPa = 10 bar. 2 Normative references The following referenced docume
