Panels with damaged edges may only be used if the damage does not penetrate the panel body by more than 15% of its thickness. 3 Installation 3.1 General Imposed stresses which arise where panels deviate from flatness need not be considered in the design of panels and supports. Deforma
13、tion caused by the background shall be estab- lished by means of analysis or assembly testing, in accor- dance with subclause 7.2 of DIN 18516 Part 1. 3.2 Panel fixings Fixings shall surroundor gripthe full thicknessof the panel. A distinction is to be made, as afunction of the design and arrangemen
14、t of fixings, between panels retained along their edges (linear retention) and at various points (iocai- zed retention). In the case of linear retention, the panel edges are usually secured in a metal surround, the panel then being fixed on not less than two sides. In the case of localized retention
15、, panels are fixed by means of clips or screws and clamping plates located at corners and, where further support is necessary, in the middle of the side lengths. 3.3 Requirements for fixings 3.3.1 General For all types of fixing, it shall be ensured that: a) edge clearance between rebate and panel i
16、s not less than 5mm; b) no contact occurs between glass and metal, glass and glass, or glass and exterior wall, even when the clad- ding is subjected to thermal effects or mechanical load- ing; c) the bedding is durabile, resistant to weather, and soft (usually elastomeric); d) panels are supported
17、under minimum stress. Where panels are supported on sealing strips, these shall be at least4 mm thick and located on both sides of the panel. 3.3.2 All-round retention In the case of panels retained on all sides, the depth of en- gagement shall be not less than 10mm. 3.3.3 In the case of panais reta
18、ined on two or three sides, the depth of engagement shall be equal to the panel thickness plus 1600th of the span, but not less than 15mm. Panels shall be prevented from slipping by means of spacer blocks, these usually being made of elastomers having a Shore A hardness of 60 to 80. Impressions in t
19、he panel caused by grips (e.g. at suspen- sion points) during prestressing, which reduce flexural strength, shall be located on a retained edge. Where the lower edge of a panel is not retained, the panel shall be provided with support at the lower left and right. The area of the contact surface, whi
20、ch is designed to ac- commodate the self-weight of the panel, shall be rectangu- lar and be at least equal to engagement depth times panel thickness. 3.3.4 Localized retention 3.3.4.1 In the case of localized retention, the contact sur- face area of clamps shall be at least 1000 mm2, the depth of pa
21、nel engagement being at least 25 mm. 3.3.4.2 Holders located on corners shall be rectangular (ratio of side lengths at least 1 : 2,5) and cover the whole corner. 3.3.4.3 Where the contact surface areas of clamps are smaller than those specified above, the loadbearing capa- city shall be verified by
22、means of assembly testing as spe- cified in subclause 7.2 of DIN 18 516 Part 1. For testing purposes, the panels and fixings shall be subjected to loading at right angles to the panel surface, to simulate suction and pressure. On the basis of at least ten tests, the cause of any type of failure (e.g
23、. failure of the fixing or fracture of the panel in the bearing zone), shall be deter- mined. 3.3.4.4 In the case of localized retention where the clamps are located at areas othei- than corners, fasteners (e.g. bolts fit into drilled holes) shall be provided. These may also be necessary to accommod
24、ate the self-weight of the panel 3.3.4.5 The distance between the edge of a bolt hole and the panel edge shall be equal to at least twice the panel thickness, but not less than the hole diameter. 3.3.4.6 The distances of holes drilled in the corner zone of a panel from its edge shall not be identica

Retention on two or three sides 4 Design of panels 4.1 Permissible stresses Calculation of the permissible stresses for safety glass pa- nels shall be based on the minimum flexural strength as specified in table 1, using a safety factor of three, and if
26、necessary, taking a statistical evaluation of the results of assembly tests referred to in subclauses 3.3.4.3 and 5.3 into consideration. The permissible stresses determined on the basis of such tests shall not be greater than could be assumed in the case of a non-resilient background. DIN 18 516 Pa

28、ion of glass, ceT, equal to b) modulus of elasticity of glass, E, equal to 70 O00 N/mm2; c) a permissible deflection of the free edge of the panel and the centre of the panel, equal to f/lOO. 9 * K- ; 5 Testing 5.1 General Where compliance with the requirements has not been pro- vided by the manufac

The results of such testing shall be coverd in a test certificate. 5.2 Determination of flexural strength
30、 The flexural strength of safety glass panels shall be deter- mined in accordance with DIN 52 303 Part 1. Test pieces shall be prepared in accordance with the principles of sta- tistical analysis (e.g. originating from different production days or different tempering ovens). The results of testing s

For each panel thickness, the number of (randomly selected) sarn- ples, n, shall be not less than ten. 5.3 Determination of deformation Where assembly testing is necessary (cf. subclause 3.1), this shall be carr

Not less than three samples shall be thus tested. Standards referred to DIN 1249 Part 1 DIN 1249 Part 3 DIN 1249 Part 4 DIN 1249 Par
