If matching diameters differ, the decision as to whether the tubes may be welded together shall be determined on the basis of the permissi

When joining tubes having different wall thicknesses, or when joining tubes with different nominal diameters (outside vs. inside), the matching diameter determined on the basis of this standard will be different for each side of the joint. In this case the larger of the two matching

44、 diameters shall be selected, taking into consideration the fact that this is only possible when the resulting wall thickness is not smaller than the minimum allowable wall thickness specified in Table 9. This wall thickness may only be smaller than the minimum allowable wall thickness specified in

45、Table 9 if further calculations show that the remaining wall thickness is within the permissible limits. Working of the internal faces can be dispensed with if the existing inside diameter is dp, although this diameter may be larger than the matching diameter on the other side of the joint. Before w

46、elding, the weldability of the joint shall be established on the basis of the permissible edge offset. If the edge offset conditions are not met, another process shall be chosen, e.g. reducing, deposit welding, or widening. If the inside diameters of a joint to be welded are comparable, it is only n

47、ecessary to match the smaller inside diameter to the larger inside diameter, taking care that the remaining joint wall thickness is greater than the minimum allowable wall thickness tpspecified in Table 9. The wall thickness may only be smaller than the tpvalue specified in Table 9 if further calcul

48、ations show that the remaining wall thickness is within the specified limits. If, when welding tubes having the same nominal dimensions, the inside diameter of one side does not match, this diameter shall be measured again. If the re-measured value is smaller than the matching diameter required for

49、this particular joint, then the measured smaller diameter shall be adjusted to match the larger inside diameter of the other side, taking care that the specifications of Table 9 regarding the minimum allowable wall thickness are met. The adjusted wall thickness may only be smaller than tpas in Table 9 if further calculations show that the remaining wall thickness is within the permissible limits. .
