、to be speci- fied. The test locations are to be designated. In detail the following are to be indicated: Permissible concentricity deviation of the tip cone sur- face or of special test surfaces relative to the centre of the borehentre of the journal or relative to the bore envelopejournal envelope;
、 the plane of measurement is to be stated if necessary. Permissible camming of a face, which is thereby declared to be the reference face, or of special test faces relative to the centre of the borehentre of the journal or relative to the bore envelope/journal envelope; the measuring circle is to be
、 stated if necessary. If required, the permissible camming of a second face serving as an auxiliary plane is to be stated. Remark: If required, individual teeth on one side of a gear, which is declared in this way to be the front side, can be de- noted as tooth l and tooth 2, the counting direction
、being specified at the same time (preferably in the clock- wise direction). The front side is the criterion for deter- mining the right flank and left flank, see DIN 868. 1.8 Axial distances from the reference face 1.8.1 Apex to back distance N o t e : In general, the actual apex to back distance is
、 determined on the finished workpiece and indicated on the workpiece. 1.8.2 Outer tip distance 1.8.3 Inner tip distance 1.8.4 Auxiliary plane distance This is to be toleranced as necessary. 1.9 Symbols of surfaces for the tooth flanks to DIN IS0 1302or DIN 3141, if necessary for the tooth root and r

The table may either be incorporated in the drawing sheet or attached to the drawing as a separate sheet. The data apply to octoid gear teeth unless another gear tooth profile is stated; see Section 2.
、2.3. 2.1 Nominal dimensions of gear teeth 2.1.1 Modulem The module mp on the crown gear reference circle is stated. N o t e : The International Standard IS0 678 “Straight bevel gears for general mechanical engineering and heavy machinery; modules and diametral pitches“ has not been adopted in the DI
、N Standard because the bevel gear cutting machines operating by the planing method can have their tools set to any desired module. For straight bevel gears, therefore, standard module values are not provided. 2.1.2 Number of teeth z If the gear teeth on the workpiece consist only of one or more sect

、nted by additional particulars. DIN 3966 Part 2 supersedes DIN 869 Part 2, March 1931 edition. The definitions and parameters in this Standard relate to DIN 3971 “Definitions and para- meters for bevel gears and bevel gear pairs“ (subsequent edition at present still in draft form). The designations
、have been coordinated with DIN 3998 Part 3 “Designations of gears and gear pairs; bevel gears and bevel gear pairs, hypoid gears and hypoid gear pairs“, and the symbols with DIN 3999 “Symbols for gear teeth“. Only one basic type has been used for the examples of data in the Table; this is intended t
、o be used as far as possible as an example for all cases. For the angle dimensions occurring in the Table data the units stated should be the degree with decimal subdivision and, in brackets, the units degreee, minutes and seconds. For angle dimen- sions in calculation sheets it may be found in syst
、ems with a limited stock of symbols (tele- printers, data processing) that the unit symbols for degree, minute and second cannot be repre- sented by the superscript symbols o “. For such cases DIN 66 030 “Representation of unit names in systems with a limited stock of characters“ (subsequent edition at present still in draft form) provides for the following representations of the unit names: deg or DEG for degree (angle) mnt or MNT for minute (angle) sec or SEC for second (angle). For further abbreviations of the unit names, d, m and s are recommended, e. g. 2d42m36s.
