When testing with the methanolic FAM testing fluid, the swelling and extraction effect (change in mass andvolu

5、me), the change in hardness, expansion and strength properties as specified in the relevant standards, e. 9. DIN 53 476 and DIN 53 521, can be determined. Note. Methanolic FAM testing fluid did not correspond to any commercially available petrol at the time this standard was prepared, nor is it expe

6、cted to correspond to such petrol in the future. On the basis of DIN 51 604 Part 1, it may be regarded as a fluid for assessing the behaviour of polymer materials with regard to swelling and extraction effects and change in hardness, expansion and strength properties when in contact with petrol, if

7、the latter contains the above-mentioned per- centages of alcohol. Other substances which may contain different components or additives contai- ning oxygen are not taken into account.
