、s with ethanol as principal component which are used in motors designed to be run on ethanol. In general, such fuels are designated with the code E85. In accordance with the Biokraftstoffquotengesetz (Biofuels Quota Law) 4, the ethanol content of this fuel can be in the range between approximately 7

、0 % (V/V) and approximately 86 % (V/V), depending on the seasons climatic conditions. NOTE For the purposes of this standard, % (m/m) and % (V/V) are used to represent the percentage by mass and the percentage by volume respectively. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indi

Corresponding regulations are found in the BImSchV 10 1 and the associated ordinance 2. 4 DIN 51625:2008-08 5 Requirements and test methods 5.1 General requirements Ethanol fuel E85 is presumed to be

、 in compliance with the requirements of this standard if all properties described in 5.1 to 5.5 and all limits given in Tables 1 and 2 are adhered to. The limits apply to samples taken from a dispensing pump. In cases of dispute, the procedures for resolving the dispute described in DIN EN ISO 4259

、(see 5.6), shall be used. For arbitration purposes, the biogenic origin of the ethanol used can be determined using the C-14 method (radiocarbon dating) 3. Suitable fuel additives without known harmful

、 side effects are allowed in the appropriate amount, to help to avoid deterioration of driveability and emissions control durability, provided that there is no interference with other clauses of this standard. Other technical means with equivalent effect may also be used. 5.4 Phosphorus, iron, manga
