The method is particularly suitable for those articles t

8、hat are intended to be taken into the mouth, or for which it can be foreseen that they will, when used, be taken into the mouth or come into contact with the mucous membranes. With the test it is established whether colouring materials can migrate from the articles for common use to the mouth or to

9、the mucous membranes. This standard does not apply to articles for common use that are intended to come into contact with foodstuffs or to those articles or parts of articles whose function is the release of colouring materials. NOTE Examples of the latter are wax crayons and leads of pencil crayons

10、 The test method is applicable to all articles for common use, independent of the colouring procedure applied (e.g. dyeing, staining, coating). Possible mechanical wear (e.g. exposure of a coloured layer after mechanical abrasion of a finishing coat) is not taken into account. 2 Normative reference

Protect from light and make sure before use that the pH value of the artificial saliva is in the range of 6,8 0,1. NOTE If the artificial saliva is to be stable longer than two weeks, it is recommended to

20、use water that has been heated to boiling for ten minutes. 5 DIN 53160-1:2010-10 6 Procedure 6.1 Depending on the size of the article to be tested (referred to as the specimen in the following), cut a strip about 15 mm wide and up to 80 mm long from the filter paper (4.1). 6.2 Soak the filter paper

21、strip using artificial saliva (5.3). 6.3 Place the soaked filter paper strip (see 6.2) on the specimen and attach it to the specimen, e.g. with the adhesive tape (4.2) or film-wrapped (4.3), making sure that there is close contact between the specimen and the soaked filter paper (particularly to be

22、observed in the case of curved articles). For this purpose, the adhesive tape shall cover the filter paper strip over its entire length, and at least 10 mm shall project over both ends of the strip so that it can adhere to the dry areas of the specimen. If the article to be tested is too large, carr

23、y out the test using a portion or a cutout of the article. If the article is too small to be arranged for the test as described above (e.g. wooden beads) it is to be tightly wrapped in a piece of filter paper soaked with the artificial saliva. 6.4 Store the specimen prepared as described in 6.3 in t

Previously bring the desiccator to the test temperature using the oven (4.5) and leave it there during the period of test. 7 Evaluation Remove the filter paper from the specimen. Place the filter paper, with the adhesive tape side facing down

25、wards, in the oven and dry it at (37 2) C for one hour. Evaluate the coloration of the filter paper by comparison with the grey scale as defined in DIN EN 20105-A03. Indicate the step on the grey scale as the result. If the filter paper is not coloured uniformly, evaluate the area with the strongest

26、 coloration and indicate this in the test report. NOTE To facilitate the assessment, the grey scale together with the stained filter paper strips can be assessed using a commercially available scanner/copier, where the colour intensity is expressed in grey scale steps and compared to the grey scale

27、determined simultaneously. 8 Test report The test report shall include at least the following details: a) all details necessary to identify the article for common use tested; b) a reference to this standard (DIN 53160-1); c) the test result: Step on the grey scale (see Clause 7); d) any deviation fr
