4、ours *) 1 Scope The DIN colour chart is a systematic arrangement of colours selected from all the existing object colours. It is used as an aid for clearer understanding of colours and their practical application, and as illustrat.ive material for teaching. Note. Because of the unavoidable variation

5、s occurring in colour painting and dying, colour samples are, in general, suitable as samples only to a limited extent if colour matching in accordance with specified colour coordinates is required. This fact shall also be taken into account when using the DIN colour chart. Moreover, a purchaser sel

6、ecting a colour using a colour chart should bear in mind that the production of coloured articles having particular technological properties can present some difficulties in certain colour ranges. The selection of colours of the DIN colour chart is based on the DIN colour system for the 2 standard c

7、olori- metric observer (DIN 6164 Part 1) which hasbeendevised specifically for this purpose. This standard specifies which colours from the DIN colour system shall be in- cluded in the DIN colour chart and the requirements to be applied to such colour samples. In addition, this stand- ard specifies

Supplement in preparation. * 2 Structure 2.1 The DIN colo

9、ur chart, issued in the form of supple- ments to DIN 6164, contains all colours possessing an integral hue number T, an integral saturation degree S and an integral darkness degree D in the DIN colour system, where it has been possible to produce colour samples in accordance with the selected techni

10、que and with adequate light fastness. The supplements with gloss colour samples include a small selection limited to hue numbers 3, 6, 9,12,15,18,21 and 24 for the dark- ness degree D = 8 because at this level there are only slight perceptible colour differences between adjacent colour samples. The

11、standard chromaticity coordinates x, y given in table 1 of DIN 6164 Part 1, February 1980 edition, are specified for the chromaticities concerned 1). irrespective of whether the colour samples can be produced. This table also contains the values for AO necessary for calcu- lating the various darknes

12、s degrees. 2.2 The supplements to DIN 6164 in each case contain the colour samples for one hue collected together in one supplement and clearly arranged in order of satura- tion and darkness degrees. The achromatic colours, which ought to be shown in every supplement in order to complete the saturat

13、ion series, are contained in one special supplement, separately for matt and gloss colour samples. 2.3 The colour coordinates for the colour samples in the DIN colour chart shall be determined in accordance Continued on page 2 Beulh Verlag GmbH. The colour samples in the supplements to DIN 6164 shall be measured using measurement geometry 45/0 under light falling parallel to the long sides

15、of the colour sample and from the side lying opposite to the tongue. 2.4 For the colour samples in the DIN colour chart, the deviation from the required value as specified in subclause 2.1 shall not be greater than AE6164 = 10 (see DIN 6164 Part 1). Compliance with this requirement shall be verified

16、 Such verification consists of testing the colour samples for compliance with the colour tolerances specified as permissible. For this purpose, the colour difference AE6164 of the colour samples with regard to the required value shall be determined (see clause 5 of DIN 6164 Part 1, February 1980 ed

17、ition). Testing shall be carried out by a test house approved by the DIM Deutsches Institut fur Normung e. V. 2) 2) The test house approved for this purpose by DIM is the Bundesanstalt fr Materialprfung (BAM) (Federal Institute for Materials Testing) in Berlin. 2.5 Every colour sample in the DIN col

18、our chart shall be identified by the colour symbol, as specified in DIN 6164 Part 1. The date of test shall be deemed to be the date of issue of the relevant supplement or the date of the test mark stamped on it. If the supplement has been issued more than five years ago, the colour samples shall be

19、 tested again and the new date of test shall be stamped on the supplement. 2.6 The designation “DIN colour chart“ shall only be used for the colour chart issued by DIN, i. e. the supple- ments to DIN 6164. 3 Other verified colour samples Collections of colour samples (colour charts, colour atlases,

20、colour registers and the like) making use of the colorimetric system specified in DIN 6164 and using the same, or a coarser or finer scale of subdivisions, or individual colour samples with an identification in accordance with DIN 6164 may be designated as “veri- fied in accordance with DIN 6164“ if they are tested as specified in subclause 2.4 of this standard and given a test date. 2) and collections of colour samples
