11、 HC - P 30 4 Dimensions 4.1 The values of cutter diameter, d, of twist drills are specified in the relevant dimension standards. Checking of the cutter diameter shall be carried out as specified in DIN 6540 Part 2. The diameter of twist drills with a cutter diameter exceeding 3mm shall normally tape
12、r from the outer corners towards the shank (effective length) by 0,02 mm to 0,3 mm per 100 mm of length (back taper). Checking of the back taper shall be carried out as specified in DIN 6540 Part 2. Cutter diameter and back taper 4.2 Parallel shank The shank dimensions shall be as specified in DIN 6
13、535, DIN 6537 and DIN 6539. The tolerance on cylindricity shall be IT4 as specified in IS0 286-1. 4.3 Radial run-out The tolerance on radial run-out, t, measured as described in DIN 6540 Part 2 (see figure I), shall be 0,02 mm. 4.4 Lengths The tolerance on the overall length shall comply with accura
14、cy grade very coarse as specified in IS0 2768-1. 4.5 Relative lip height The relative lip height, A, is the difference in height of major cutting edges normal to the drill axis, measured 49,s t A Figure 1 in mid-position between the two or three major cutting edges. The tolerance, tAs, shall be 0,03
15、 mm. Checking of A, shall be carried out as specified in DIN 6540 Part 2. 5 Material The hardmetal shall be of chip removal group P or K (as specified in IS0 513), at the manufacturers discre- tion or subject to agreement. In the latter case, the symbol for the application group shall be indicated w

Cutting direction and lead of helix 6.2 Number of cutting edges Twist drills are nor
17、mally provided with two cutting edges. Where a drill is to have three cutting edges, this shall be indicated in the designation (cf. subclause 3.1). 6.3 Grooves As a rule, twist drills are designed without grooves. Twist drills with grooves shall be supplied at the manu- facturers discretion or subj

Drills with shank diameters not less than 3 mm to 6 mm shall be marked at least with the manufacturers symbol and the cutter diameter. In the case of d
22、rills with a shank diameter smaller than 3 mm, the marking shall be applied to the packaging. Since both manufacturers and users were aware of the difficulties invol

For this reason, it is recommended that full information on the intended use of solid hardmetal twist drills be provided when ordering such drills.
