7、 4 1 Scope This standard specifies dimensions and symbols for single row metric tapered roller bearings, the main dimensions of which have been taken from ISO 355. Since only these dimensions conform to the general plan as in DIN 616 and the symbols specified in the DIN Standard differ from those gi
8、ven in the International Standard, the present standard, DIN 720, has been retained and is to be used in conjunction with ISO 335. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. DIN 720:2008-08 13 4 Material Rollers and rings shall be made from ball and roller bearing steel as in DIN EN ISO 683-17. The material of the cage shall be
44、at the manufacturers discretion or subject to agreement, with due consideration being given to DIN 623-1. 5 Design Tolerances shall be as specified in DIN 620-2. Chamfer dimensions: Maximum values as specified in DIN 620-6. r5 is left unspecified; however, sharp edges are not permitted. The cage des
45、ign shall be at the manufacturers discretion or subject to agreement, with due consideration being given to DIN 623-1. Gauging methods for dimensional and running tolerances shall be as specified in DIN 620-1. Mass: Because cage design and cage material vary depending on the manufacturer, no informa
46、tion on mass is provided. 6 Mounting Since the cage projects beyond the face of the bearing, mating dimensions as specified in DIN 5418 shall be observed. DIN 720:2008-08 14 Annex A (informative) Explanatory notes Except for the symbols, the bearings dealt with in DIN 720 comply with the specificati
47、ons of ISO 355 with respect to their dimensions. Originally it was intended that the symbols as in DIN 720, used in the European market, be replaced by those specified in the ISO Standard, used particularly on the American continent, and that DIN 720 be superseded by DIN ISO 355. After a transitiona
48、l period of twenty years this aim has been found to be unrealistic since the DIN designations are widely established in the European market. For this reason it has been decided not to withdraw the DIN Standard but, instead, to allow it to retain its validity, standing alongside, and with a status equal to that of, the ISO Standard. Bearing manufacturers are thus free to decide which system they wish to use for the designation of their tapered bearings. The list
