12、the threaded portion of taps are based on the tolerances specified in DIN 8140-2. For tapped holes, tolerances smaller than given in DIN ISO 965-1 have been specified. To indicate these modified tolerances, mod has been added to the tolerance symbol. The formulae for calculating the tolerances and l
13、imit deviations for the tap major and pitch diameters given in clauses 5 and 6 take into account the particular conditions prevailing for tapped holes. Size and position of tolerances zones on the threaded portion of the tap and those of the internal thread are illustrated in figure 1. The internal
14、thread shown is of tolerance class H. 15、ance classes 6H mod and class 6G mod are standardized for tapped holes. This has been taken into account in this standard for the tolerance classes for taps (see table 1). The symbol denoting the tolerance class (e.g. 6H mod) is part of the designation of machine taps. Details regarding the designat
16、ion structure are given in DIN 2197. 20、 and position of tolerance zones shall be as shown in figure 3. Limit deviations and limits of sizes shall be calculated using the formulae given in table 3. For the tap major diameter, only the minimum clearance, Js, and the minimum major diameter, dmin, are specified. The maximum major diameter an
21、d thus the shape of the tap are optional. The minimum clearance on the major diameter, Js, is equal to the upper deviation of pitch diameter, Es.
