This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 322 “Equipments for making and shaping of metals Safety requir ments” (Secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German body involved i

6、n its preparation was the Normenausschuss Maschinenbau (Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee), Working Committee NA 060-02-01 AA Stahlerzeugung of Section Htten- und Walzwerkeinrichtungen. This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the new “M

7、achinery Directive”, Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of the directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journ

8、al of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). The European Standards referred to in this document have been published as the correspo

9、nding DIN EN or DIN EN ISO Standards with the same number. For the International Standards which have not been published as DIN ISO Standards with the same number, there are no national standards available, except for that below, which corresponds as follows: ISO 3864-1 similar to DIN 4844-1 Amendme

This European Standard shall be given the status of a nationa

DIN EN 14681:2010-10 EN 14681:2006+A1:2010 (E) 5 Introduction This European Standard is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100. The machinery concerned and the ext

37、ent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indicated in the scope of this European Standard. When provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards, the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisio

38、ns of the other standards, for machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this type C standard. Where for clarity an example of a preventive measure is given in this European Standard, this should not been considered as the only possible solution. Any other solution le

39、ading to the same risk reduction is permissible if an equivalent level of safety is achieved. DIN EN 14681:2010-10 EN 14681:2006+A1:2010 (E) 6 1 Scope This European Standard specifies the general safety requirements for electric arc furnaces (EAF) to melt steel not containing radioactive material. T

40、his European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events pertinent to EAF, when used as intended and under conditions foreseen by the manufacturer, but also includes foreseeable faults and malfunctions in case of misuse. This European Standard specifies also criteria

41、 for the plant and equipment integrated in the production process. This European Standard specifies the requirements to ensure the safety of persons which are to be met during the design, assembly, transport, commissioning, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of the equipment. This European S

42、tandard assumes that installations are operated and maintained by adequately trained and competent personnel. Manual intervention for setting, adjustment and maintenance is accepted as part of the normal use of the equipment. This European Standard covers the following equipment (see Annex B): EAF w

43、ith AC technology (alternating current); EAF with DC technology (direct current); scrap pre-heating technology; associated equipment/devices according Annex B. The following equipment is not covered by this European Standard: induction furnace; resistance-arc furnace; electron beam furnace; plasma f

44、urnace; other electrical furnaces used in secondary steelmaking. This European Standard does not specify safety requirements for the following equipment, which can be an integral or complementary part of the equipment covered by the Scope: a) cranes; b) scrap basket; c) transport car for scrap baske

45、t; d) elephant house (furnace encasing for environmental reasons); e) separate scrap drying equipment.
