Throughout the revision of ISO 1683 the German mirror committee and other German experts argued vehemently for the specification of m/sn500=v as a preferred velocity ref

7、erence value, in the light of the airborne sound quantities given in Table 1. However, the international majority was not in agreement with this well-founded request. From the point of view of the German mirror committee the preferred vibratory velocity reference value of m/sn10=v now given in Table

8、 3 has no correlation whatever to the other basic reference values for airborne sound quantities, and will necessitate corrections to numerous basic technical rules. This conflict can be solved by using the reference value m/sn500=v cited in footnote b to Table 3. Since footnotes in tables are norma

9、tive elements, use of this value will not compromise conformity with this standard. In order to establish a uniform basis for the expression of those lev

24、els, a set of agreed reference values is needed.The reference value determines whether the level for a particular quantity is positive or negative. For general measurements and many engineering specifications, it is desirable that levels of a given kind be consistently positive (or consistently nega

25、tive) rather than both positive and negative.In general, a reference value is expressed as the number one and a derived SI unit formed by the use of an appropriate SI prefix.The values specified in this International Standard represent the values internationally adopted.For airborne sound, a special
