The method for the determination of unsaponifiable matter (diethyl ether method) as in ISO 150:1980 has been adopted as a standard method by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in the fifth edition of its “Standard me
7、thods for the analysis of oils, fats and derivatives”, Section “Oils and fats”. It corresponds to the method previously specified in DIN 55934:1982-11, 14.3. The formula for calculating the rosin acids content (see B.5) includes a factor of 1,042 to correct for the slight esterification of rosin aci
8、ds, and a factor of 0,1 to correct for the unesterified acids, in accordance with the Scandinavian technical rule SCAN-T 14:78. Because the reference values for the composition of tall-oil fatty acids given in DIN 55961:1993-03 have not been included in ISO 8623, they are included in the informative
9、 National Annex to the present standard. However, the content for some fatty acids has not been given, as there has not yet been enough experience with them. For example, limiting the all-cis-9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid content to less than 1 % in order to reduce yellowing is currently under consi
10、deration. If this seems necessary, e.g. due to the results of investigations, then this content can be specially agreed.
