This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of that directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official J
9、ournal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). In German, the term “Brandschutz” is commonly used as a generic term for fire preve
10、ntion and fire protection. The expression “fire prevention and fire protection” can therefore be translated into German as “Brandschutz”. In this standard, however, the terms “fire prevention” and “fire protection” are defined separately and thus need to be translated differently. In order to satisf
11、y both the common German usage and the need for an adequate translation of the terms used in the English reference version, the accurate translation of both terms has been complemented by the corresponding synonyms in the German version. In g
46、eneral, as shown in Annex E, these include technical, structural, organizational and fire suppression measures. Effective fire safety of machinery can require the implementation of a single measure or a combination of measures.Annex E provides an overview on fire risk reduction measures. This Intern
47、ational Standard deals with the measures shown in Figure 1.Figure 1 Protective measures dealt with in ISO 19353The structure of safety standards in the field of machinery is as follows.a) type-A standards (basis standards) giving basic concepts, principle for design, and general aspects that can be
48、applied to machinery;b) type-B standards (generic safety standards) dealing with one or more safety aspect(s), or one or more type(s) of safeguards that can be used across a wide range of machinery: type-B1 standards on particular safety aspects (e.g. safety distances, surface temperature, noise); t
