3、ercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for laboratory trip balances to be used as accurate weighing instruments in laboratories and pharmacies. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The balances shall be cla

4、ssified and identified by the types listed below. The selected type to be supplied shall be specified in the acquisition order (see 7.4(b). Type I Single beam, dual scale, metric and avoirdupois (avdp), capacity of 200 grams/5.1 pounds Type II Double beam, metric, capacity of 2000 grams 3. SALIENT C

5、HARACTERISTICS 3.1 Components. The balances shall be of the beam type with a base and the following components. 3.1.1 Weight beams. Each balance shall contain one or more weight beams. 3.1.2 Weighing surfaces. The weighing surfaces shall be approximately six-inch diameter stainless steel plates, pol

6、ished or brushed flat, and free of obstructions. The platforms shall be readily interchangeable without the necessity of replacing any other part. 7、 made of hardened steel and accurately ground. 3.1.4 Bearings. The bearings shall be made of agate. The bearing blocks shall be self-aligning to ensure continuous contact along the knife edges. 3.1.5 Poises. The poises shall be of the center-reading sliding type. 3.1.6 Pointer. The pointer shall be

8、easy to read. 3.1.7 Dust cover. Each balance shall be supplied with a dust cover of sufficient size to completely cover it. 3.1.8 Damping. The damping system shall be friction free and self- adjusting. 3.1.9 Instructions. Each balance shall be furnished with two copies of instructions for installati

9、on, operation, and maintenance, as well as a list of component parts. 3.2 Sensitivity and beam graduations. 3.2.1 Type I. Type I balances shall have a zero load sensitivity of 0.1 gram/0.0035 ounce (avdp) per graduation, and a full load sensitivity of 0.2 gram/0.0070 ounce (avdp) per graduation, and

10、 a capacity of 2000 grams/5.1 pounds. The beam shall be graduated in 0.2 gram and 0.1 ounce divisions. 3.2.2 Type II. Type II balances shall have a full load sensitivity of 0.2 gram and a capacity of 2000 grams. The upper beam shall be graduated from 0 to 10 grams in 0.1-gram divisions while the low

11、er beam shall be graduated from 0 to 200 grams in 10-gram divisions. 3.3 Nameplate. A permanent nameplate shall be attached to the product. Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 7.4 (c), the nameplate shall display the following information: a. Nomenclature b. Manufacturers name c

12、. Manufacturers model designation d. Balance type (see 2) e. National stock number (if specified) f. Contract or order number (if specified) g. 13、ORY REQUIREMENTS. 4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products prov

14、ided shall meet the salient characteristics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.

15、5.2 Market acceptability. The products offered must have been previously sold either to the government or on the commercial market. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the acquisition order (see 7.4(d). 6.2 Overseas packag

16、ing. Movable components of the balance shall be secured in a manner that will prevent movement or damage during shipment and storage. The balances shall be packed in a fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D5118/D5118M, “Standard Practice for Fabrication of Fiberboard Shipping Boxes“. The box shall be c

17、losed, waterproofed, and reinforced in accordance with ASTM D1974/D1974M, “Fiberboard Boxes, Methods of Closing, Sealing, and Reinforcing “. 6.3 Overseas marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129, “Standard Practice for Military Marking“, or FED-STD-123, “Marking for Shipment (Civil A

18、gencies)“, as applicable. 6.4 Domestic packaging, packing, palletization, and marking. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951, “Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging“.
