This document covers ski binding assemblies. The commercial sk
2、i binding is for usein.both downhill and cross country militaly skiing.2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS2.1 Desierr and construction. The ski binding shall be of steel constmction. The binding shall bea dual purpose downhililcross country cable type binding (see Figure 1). For setting of the bindingin ,tie
3、 downhill position, the cable shall be placed under the two hitch hooks located on the side-walls of each ski. For setting of the binding in the country position, the cable shall be unhookedfrom the two hitch hooks on the sidewaIls of each ski. The cables shall be easily removed by handfor interchan
4、geability for different size bqmts. The front throw clamping mechanism shall bespring loaded and have a safety release feature for release in a forivard fall. The binding shallarticulate at a hinge located just forward of the toe piece when set in the cross country position.The binding shall have a
5、plastic heel pad, 2.125 t 0.0625 inches wide, 1.375 f 062S inches longand 0.165 0.015 inches thick. The binding shall have a 0.156 i 0.015 inch diameter steel wiretoe piece that will be compatible with the standard militay white and black vapor barrier boots(MIL-B-41816) and the standard ski mountai
6、n boot (MKL-B-43739). The binding shall be fur-nished in pairs with all the necessary mounting hardware and instructions. l%e ski binding shall befree of burrs and sharp edges and all rivets properly peened. Cheski binding shall be steel in con-struction in the size/color code specified. The cable s
7、hall be capable of being set in the crosscountty and downhill position. Instructions shall be contained with the binding. The forefoot plateof the ski binding shall rest flat against the ski. The ski binding shall be compared to standardguide sample (Silveretta 125), Alpine Research Corporation.Bene

The cable shall be available in three sizes and color coded with plastic heelprotection tubes a
10、round the cable in the following colors:Red Size 35-1/2 k 1/2 inchesGreen Size 37-1/2 112inchesYelIow Size 39-1/2 1/2 inchesNote The cables shall be measured horn end to end with cable removed from the binding.2.3 Lfi. The label shall be the same as normally used by the contractor for retail distrib
11、ution.2.3.1 Label/tag. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothingitems. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. Thepaper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing.The
12、 tags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible andreadable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN).The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is com-pletely visible o
13、n the item when it is folded andlor packaged as specified and so that it causes nodamage to the item.3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged”io use recoveredmaterials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the FederalAcquisition Regulation
14、(FAR). .4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Certification. The contractor shall celtify and maintain substantiating evidence that theproduct offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and conformsto the produceis own drawmgs,.specifications, standards, and quality a
15、ssurance practices. TheGovernment reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery andthereafter as maybe otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.4.2 Market acceptance criteria. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must have been soldto th
16、e commercial market or to the Government for at least two years.4.3 Warranty. The item offered shall include the standard warranty given to the commercialmarket beginning with the date of delivery of the individual items.4.4 Acceptance criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contr
17、actor purchaseorder.4.5 Visual examination. Each ski binding shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lotsize shall be expressed in units of ski binding.
