SCOPE. This commercial item description co
2、vers the requirements for one type of black, medium weight, rubber, 5 buckle overshoes, for land and shipboard use. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The overshoes are available in sizes 5 through 15 (inclusive). 3. SAL,IENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Description. The overshoes shall be waterproof, of medium weight cons
3、truction, with a semi- blucher throat opening, closed with 5 buckles and a corrugated and cleated chevron-type outersole/heel design. 5、er compound shall be natural and/or synthetic, colored black, meeting applicable requirements of 3.2.1.1 and 3.2.1.2. 3.2.1.1 Upper compound. The outsole and heels shall be rubber, non-marking, and shall meet the following requirements: Abrasive index Initial 45 (minimum) ASTM-D-1630 After aging 75% of original (minimum) ASTM-D-1630 Il Hardness Initial 55
7、I5 After aging 65 (maximum) ASTM-D-2240 ASTM-D-2240 Il - 1/ The aging test shall consist of 16 hours at 212F (k2”F) using Test Method 7221 of FED-STD-601. 3.2.2 Lining fabric. The lining fabric shall be of a commercidindustry construction and type. When visible inside the boot, the color shall be bl
8、ack or brown, show a rating equal to or better than the rating of “3-4” on AATCC Gray Scale for Color Change and Color Transfer when tested for colorfastness to water in accordance with AATCC-107. Crocking shall show a rating equal to or better than the rating of “3.5” on AATCC Chromatic Transferenc
9、e Scale when tested in accordance with AATCC-8. 3.2.3 Buckles. The buckles shall be a ladder and clasp type, commercial size, cold and rolled sheet steel with either a black enamel finish or a black chemical finish and which has been lacquered or epoxy finished. 3.2.4 Fabric for rubber buckle strap
10、reinforcement. The fabric shall be cotton osnaburg with a weight of 4.9 oz./sq. yd. with reinforcement cords placed inside the strap, one cord at each edge. 3.3 Construction. The overshoes shall be constructed in accordance with approved patterns and molds utilizing commercial methods. AU overlapped

The contractors patterns and molds shall be approved by the contracting officer prior to produ
12、ction. 3.3.1.1 Hei. any ladder or clasp (buckle) omitted, misplaced, damaged, or malformed interfering with proper functioning; any air pocket or channel in any seam; poor or uneven lasting affecting serviceability or appearance; design not fabricated in accordance with production demonstration mode
13、l; label missing, incorrect, illegible, or misplaced; measurement of item not as specified; NSN or UPC bar-code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not packa
14、ged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.3 End item performance testing. The overshoes shall be tested as specified in paragraphs 3.5 and 5.3.1. The sample size shall be five overshoes, regardless of lot size. 5.3.1 Leakage test. Dry specimens shall be filled with water to within thr
15、ee (3) inches to the top of the overshoe and allowed to stand for five (5) minutes before examination. Evidence of leakage shall be indicated by the appearance of water on the exterior surface of the overshoe. 5.4 Acceptance criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purc
16、hase order. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. The preservation, packing, and marking shall be as Specified in the contract or purchase order. 7.
