3、DD-B-15 1 for all Federal agencies. 1. SCODQ. This commercial item description covers the requirements for finished bedspreads to includes cotton, polyester, cottodrayon, cottodpolyester, or polyesterhayon blends. The bed- spreads are intended for use by the Department of Defense and the General Sew

5、he bedspreads shall be in the following types, styles, and sizes: Type I - Crinkle sizes 3,4 Type II - Dimity Type DI - deleted Type IV - Corded Style A Style B - deleted sizes 1,2,3,4,5 Type V - Corded Style A Style B - deleted sizes 1,2,3,4,5 Type VI - Corded Style A Style B - deleted Sizes 1,2,3,

6、4,5 3. Salient characte ristics. The bedspreads shall be fabricated from one piece of fabric that has straight, woven selvages with the ends cut parallel to the filling yams. For the types I and II only, the bedspreads may be fabricated with the ends cut parailel to the warp yams. The four comers sh

7、all be cut square. The cut edges or cut sides of the bedspread shall be hemmed. Bedspreads may be treated with a nonpress finish. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, selected com- mercial designs shall be fbmished for the bedspreads. Bedspreads shall be fbmished in the sizes specified in Tab

13、d, except for the cords for type IV bedspreads which shall be all cotton, shall consist of a blend of 50 percent cotton and 50 percent high wet- strength modulus-type rayon, with a tolerance of 2 5.0 percent for fiber content on a conditioned basis. 3.3 The yarn for the cottodpolyester type IV bedsp

14、reads shall consist of a blend of cotton and up * to 50 percent polyethylene glycol terephthalate with a tolerance of 2 5.0 percent for fiber content on a conditioned basis. 3.4 The yam for cottodpolyester blend type V bedspreads shall consist of a blend of 75 percent polyethylene glycol terephthala

15、te and 25 percent rayon with a tolerance of 5 5.0 percent for either fiber component on a conditioned basis. 3 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesA-A-50864A 3.5 The yam for the polyester type VI bedspreads shall be de of 100 percent polyethylene glycol therphthalate. - 3.6 The cotton thread us

16、ed for hemming shall be 3-ply, ticket no. 40, conforming to type I of A-A-52094. The color of the thread shall match the color of the basic material. As a minimum level of acceptability, the dyed thread shall show good colorfastness to laundering, light and bleaching not applicable to undyed yam. As

17、 an alternate, a clear monofilament thread may be used. 3.7 As an alternate to the cotton thread, all bedspreads manufactured of a blend material may use a 2- or 3-ply polyester-covered thread, conforming to ticket no. 40 of A-A-50199. The polyester-covered, poiyesterare thread shall not be used. Th

18、e color of the thread shall match the coior of the basic material. As a minimum Icvel of acceptability, the dyed thread shall show a minimum of good colorfastness to laundering, light and bleaching not applicable to undyed yam. 3.8 The finished hems shall be not less than 314 nor more than 1 inch wi

19、de, with the raw edges turned under not less than 1/4 inch, using stitch type 6.03.01 conforming to IS0 4916. Ali hems shall be stitched with not less than 5, nor more than 10 stitches er inch, using stitch type 301 con- furnished with selvage sides need not be side hemmed. forming to IS0 4915. The

20、stitching shall be 1/16 to 1/8 inch fk m the turned edge. Bedspreads 3.9 Type I crinkle style bedspreads shall be of any weave or combination of weaves that will produce an altemate crinkle stripe and smth stripe in the finished bedspreads. The ground ends, adjacent to all crinkle stripes which meas

21、ure 3/8 inch or more, shall be reinforced as follows: Eight ground ends on each side of the crinkle stripes shall be drawn in so that two ends arc weav- ing as one (eight ends weaving as four). The stripe shall run lengthwise in the bedspreads. 3.10 The cloth for type I crinkle style bedspreads shal

22、l be either bleached white or of alternating bleached and yamdyed colored stripes. The colored stripes shall be crinkled warp yams and shall be of the color sDecified. As a minimum level of acceDtabiiitv. the colored stries shall have a minimum of god colorfastness to laundering, light, I! The calib

23、ration of the fdeometer and the definition of AATCC Fading Units shall be according to AATCC Test Method 16. Using the foxmula below, 16 to 22 AFUs are acceptable as 20 SFITS. AATCC Fading Units = A E* (20) 1.7 where ( /W ) is the color difference in CIELAB* units of color difference. 3.19 The cotto

24、n/rayon blend fabric shall contain the specified fiber percentages when tested in accordance with test method 2OA-1971 (chemical method No. 4-59.5 percent sulfuric acid test) listed in he Technical Manual of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists. Two specimens shall be tested fr

25、om each sample unit. When the weights of both the original sample and the residue have been found, the fiber percentages on a conditioned basis shall be cai- culated by the following formula and shall be reported to the nearest 0.1 percent. A commercial-type label is acceptable, provided that an additional printed cloth label containing the contractols name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) is caught on the stitching of t

30、he commercial label. The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. 3.22 Labelhag. Each item shall be individually bar-wded with a paper tag. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smoofh fi

31、nish to accept thermal ansfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each itern by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density

32、 and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded andor packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 4. =GULA TORY REOUIREMENTS . The offmr/conactor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with

33、 paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. OUALITYASSTJRANCE PROWS TONS 5.1 Cem fication.
