1、1 INCH-POUND I A-A-55 1 O 2 June 10, 1995 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION LINER, FOOD INSPECTORS SMOCK The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for MIL-L-44042 for all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. 1.1 Scope. This commercial item descr

2、iption covers a liner intended to provide added warmth to personnel of the Army Medical Services engaged in food inspection activities. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The liner shall be provided in the following sizes: Sma 11 Medium Large Extra Large NOTE: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large may be abbreviate

3、d as SM, MED, LG, and XLG. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Description. The liner shall be coat length with a snap front closure, waist drawcord, and zippered hood with drawcord around face opening. The drawcords shall be cut in the following lengths for all sizes: two each, 25 2 1/2 inches long for

4、 hood; one each, 56 5 1/2 inches long for waist. All drawcord outlets shall have eyelets which have been reinforced with 1-1/2 x 3/4 pieces of oxford cloth. 6、king permitted without license from IHS-,-,-A-A- 55 1 O 2 The liner shall have a knitted collarette and cuffs, and two side pass throughs. All seams shall be overedged. The liner is intended to be worn with the Smock, Mans, Food Inspectors (See Figure i). 3.2 Materials. 3.2.1 Basic material. The cov

7、er for the batting shall be ripstop nylon cloth, with a pattern of two warp ends woven as one and two filling picks per shed. The color shall be natural (unbleached) and 1.1 ounces per sq. yd. (maximum). There shall be 120 warp yarns per inch and 120 filling yarns per inch. The cloth shall conform t

(min.) 42 42 ASTM D-5035 Dimensional Stability (max.) 2.0% change (see below) 3.2.1.1 Dimensional stability test. The test specimen shall be a square of cloth a minimum 20 by 20 inches.

9、 Before marking and measuring for dimensional change, the specimen shall be in equilibrium with Standard Conditions as defined in FED-STD-191. The specimen shall be laid without tension on flat surface and shall be inscribed with an 18-inch square approximately equidistant from the sdges having side

10、s parallel to the warp and nominal filling directions. The marked specimen shall be laced F for a period of 2 hours. The specimen may be looped over a rod or laid fla,t on a rack both of which shall be low-conductivity (nonmetallic) material and have free air circulation on both sides. Promptly remo

11、ve the specimen from the oven, allow to cool on a flat surface, and then bring to equilibrium under Standard Conditions. Measure each side of the inscribed square for dimensional change in both the warp and filling directions (two measurements each for the warp and filling per specimen). Each change

12、 in dimension shall be reported to the nearest 0.1 percent. The specimen shall also be visually compared with the original unheated cloth for any appreciable distortion or puckering. 13、inal. If closure inspection is required to make apparent a slight change, the change is not considered ap2rsciable. Appreciable means a change that is immediately noticeable when 3.2.2 Polvester battnq. The batting shall be 10 oz./sq. yd. continuous filament (4.0 to 6.0 denier) or hollow cut staple

14、(5.25 to 6.0 denier), thickness, inches at 0.01 psi. should be a minimum of 1.00. prohibited. 15、ead. The thread for seaming and stitching shall be cotton covered, polyester, white, ticket numbers 50, 2 ply and 70, 2 ply, Tex 36 - 45. 3.2.4 Facinus and weits. The material for facings, pocket welts, eyelet reinforcements and when used for waist drawcord tunnel shall be cloth, oxford, nylon, 3 ou

16、nce, natural color, 180 warp yarns per inch and 76 filling yarns per inch. The breaking strength shall be 220 pounds for the warp and 135 pounds for the filling. 3.2.5 Collarette and cuff. The yarn for knitting the cuff and collarette fabric shall be made from natural color, first quality, multifila

17、ment nylon. 3.2.6 Cuff. The cuff shall be made on a circular knitting machine, seamless, with a 1 by 1 rib stitch, and have not less than 14 wales and 26 courses 2er inch. The cuffs shall have a tuck or expanding stitch not less than 1-1/2 or more than 2 inches in length when cut and doubled. The fi

The finished fabric shall be a true 1 by 1 ribbed knit and have a minimum of 12

19、 wales and 26 courses per inch and shall have a finished weight of not less than 8 ounces per square yard of single fabric. 3.2.8 Tape. The tape for waist drawcord tunnel and hanger loop shall be tape, nylon, woven, natural color, 3/4 inch wide, .O15 - .O25 inch thick with a breaking strength of 400

20、 pounds. The tape shall have 150 yarns per warp and 66 yarns per filling. 3.2.9 Cord, nylon. The drawcord for the hood and waist shall be nylon, natural coior with a breaking strength of 95 pounds, (minimum) and elongation of 30 percent (minimum). The length per pound shall be 951: feet (minimum). A

The fastener chain shall be fabricated of aluminum, brass or zinc. 3.2.10.1 Lensth of slide fasteners. The respective le

23、ngths of the slide fastener shall be 11-1/2 inches for small size, 12 inches for medium size, 12-1/2 inches for large size, and 13 inches for X-large sizes. 3.2.10.2 Slide fastener tape. The tape shall be white cotton. 3.2.11 Snap fasteners. The snap fasteners shall be fasteners, snap, brass, style,

24、 SA, male and female complete, consisting of stud and eyelet- size 1 or 2 and socket conforming to MIL-F-10884. 3.2.12 Eyelets. The eyelets for drawcord outlets shall be brass, conforming to BWE 107 of MIL-E-20652/1. 3.3 Label/markinq. A commercial type label is acceptable, provided that an addition

25、al printed cloth label containing the contractors name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) is caught on the stitching of the commercial label. The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. 3.3.1 Identification, size and instruction labels. The identification

26、, size md instruction labels shall be made on nonwoven, spunbonded polyester cloth, or mildew resistant printed, acrylic coated, impregnated, nonwoven 80/20 polyester/cellulose cloth. The instruction label shall contain the following information: LINER, FOOD INSPECTORS SMOCK 1. Dry liner and smock s

27、eparately when damp or wet. 2. Avoid contact with heated stoves or other heat sources; fabric may fuse. 3. Wash by hand or machine in warm water with mild soap or detergent, Rinse thoroughly and drip or machine dry. DO NOT DRY CLEAN 3.4 Label/taq. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with a pap

28、er tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for thi tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fastener

29、, clearly legible and readable by a scanrier. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code deiisity and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that

The Government shall furnish a single size pattern. The contractor is responsible for gradin

31、g patterns for additional sizes. The pattern generally provides for a seam allowance of 1/2 inch for joining seams and 1/4 inch for all other seams. Commercial patterns may be used in lieu of the Government furnished pattern provided they conform to the cited design and finished measurements. 28 50

REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered mater

34、ials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE ?IIOVISIONS 5.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of

35、 this commercial item description; conforms to the producers ow1 dzwings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices; and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first deliv

36、ery and thereafter as may be Qtherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. 5.2 Market acceptabi.?ity. Liner lots shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control

38、. 5.3.1 Defects. Any hole, c-at, tear; color not as specified; any spot or stain (outside); thread ends not removed; any bartacks missing insecure, or misplaced; any component part or required operation omitted; any draw cord ends not fused, knots omitted; any eyelets missing, defective, or not secu

39、rely clinches; rough or sharp edges on one or more eyelets; label missing; any hood drawcords less than 24-1/2 or more than 25-1/2 inches, or caught by snap fastener; any snap fasteners cap portion less than 7/8 or more than 1-1/8 inch from side or top edge; any slide fastener tape stitched too clos

40、e to metal chain obstructing freedom of slider; any fastener tape set too loose or too tight, causing noticeable bulge on tape or hood; any excessive fullness or puckering on hood at joining to neck incorrect, eyelets on right side are less than 7/8 or more than 1-1/8 inch from side edge, on left si
