SCOPE 1.1 Th
2、is commercial item description covers the requirements for smock, general purpose. The smock is intended for wear by personnel of the Department of Defense. 2. SALIENT CHRRACTERISTICS 2.1 Description. The smock shall be full fitting and knee length with long sleeves. The front closure shall be singl
3、e- breasted and button-down. The collar shall be a notched lapel collar. There shall be two lower patch pockets positioned at mid-thigh, two side hand openings at patch pocket location and a left side patch breast pocket with optional pencil section. The back shall be constructed to allow comfort in
4、 movement. All visible seams shall be clean finished. Stitch types and hems shall be uniform on all smocks. 2.2 Materials 2.2.1 Basic material. The basic material shall be white pre-shrunk cotton drill or a polyester/cotton twill blend having a minimum of 65% polyester and the remainder cotton, weig
5、hing a minimum of 6.0 oz./sq. yd. when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 3776, Option C. The maximum shrinkage, after preshrinking, shall be 2.0 in either the warp or filling direction when tested in accordance with AATCC-135. 2.2.2 Bu
8、ttons. The buttons shall be plastic, size 30-line, 4-hole, white or pearlescent white. 11、nt (horizontal). 2.3 Label/markinq. Each smock shall have a commercial identification label and a size label or a combination identification/size label. The labels shall be bleached white. The printing shall be black and shall consist of suitable non- toxic dye(s) or pigment(s) in a medium which yie
12、lds a permanent impression. It shall not show off-setting, smearing, bleeding or discoloration. Identification label shall be centered and caught in the inside stitching of the hem of the right lower pocket. The bar coding element sh
16、all be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be human-readable interpretation (HRI). This label/tag shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that it causes

The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description; conforms to the prod
22、ucers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices; and otherwise is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided
23、 for under the provisions of the contract. The 4.2 Market acceptability criteria. The item offered must have been sold to the commercial market for at least two years or to the Government, and the contractor shall certify and provide supporting documentation as to its successful serviceability. 4.3
24、Warranty. The item offered shall include the standard warranty given to the commercial market beginning with the date of delivery of the individual items. 4.4 Visual examination. Each smock shall be examined for the defects listed below: Any hole, cut, tear, burn, poorly pressed, mend, basting not r
25、emoved; color not as specified; any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed, or loose tension resulting in loose seams, gage of stitching irregular or uneven; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any component part omitted, mispl
26、aced, insecure, defective, out of alignment, right and left front or back vent uneven in length when smock is buttoned, size or type not as specified; label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurements not within the specified tolerances, any requirement omitted or not as specified; bar code omitt
27、ed or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any item not packaged in accordance with contract or purchase order. 5. PACKAGING. The preservation, packing, and marking shall
