3、ices Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers 12 hour 6 inch chemiluminescent lights (commonly known as a light stick) used for a variety of lighting, marking, and identification purpos
4、es. 2. CLASSIFICATION. These chemiluminescent lights shall be of the following colors letter as specified and shall be identified in the Part Identification Number (PIN) paragraph (see 7.2) Color B = Green Color C = Orange Color E = Red Color F = Yellow 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Design. The ch
5、emiluminescent light shall be elongated having an overall length of 152.4mm (6 inches) plus 2.54mm (0.100 inches) minus 9.5mm (0.375 inches.) The midpoint diameter shall be no less than 12.7mm (.500 inches) and the light stick shall have a flat base on one end. The diameter of the flat end shall not
6、 exceed 19.1mm (.750 inches). The endopposite the flat base shall have a hole 4.78mm (.188 inches) nominal. Light sticks shall have a tapered shape and shall be compatible with items in TABLE III. 3.1.1 Fluid Level. The vertical fluid level, when measured from the exterior of the flat base shall be

The chemiluminescent lights specified in this CID shall produce a level of light intensity as specified in Table I for a specified length of
8、 time (12 hours). In addition the chromaticity of the emitted light shall meet the requirements in Table II. TABLE I. All meters shall be traceable to NIST. b. Light stick to IL1700 probe distance: 22 0.5 mm (0.866 0.02 inches) c. Temperature Stabili
15、zation: Light sticks will be placed in a water bath at test temperature 24oC 1oC (75.2 2F) for a minimum of one (1) hour before activation. d. Activation method: Bend; agitate for ten (10) seconds. e. Light sticks shall be agitated for ten (10) seconds before each reading. f. Light sticks shall keep
16、 under cover or in darkness; may be exposed to light during movement to and from light meter. g. All meter readings shall made in darkness. h. Temperature tolerances: plus or minus 1 C (2o F.) i. Chemiluminescent lights shall be held in a vertical position when light output measurement is made. Ligh
17、t stick holder test fixture shall be made of a non-reflective matte finish black material. 3.4 Individual wrapping. Individual light sticks shall be sealed in light blocking foil wrapping. Foil wrapping shall be made of composite material having an aluminum layer with thickness of 0.01778mm (0.0007
18、inches). Foil wrapping shall be color coded and contain operating instructions. 3.5 Foil wrapper leakage. Samples will be tested for foil wrapper leakage by an application of 41.368 kilopascal (6 psi) air pressure inside of the foil wrap while submerged under water. A steady stream of air bubbles co
19、ming from any portion of the foil, except where the foil has been penetrated by the air supply shall be classified as an airtight foil failure. 3.6 Light Blocking Test. Activate the light stick while it is still inside the foil wrapper and observe it in a completely darkened room. Foil wrapper shall
20、 not transmit light anywhere through it except the seams. 3.7 Foil wrapping mark. Individual foil wrapping shall be marked with the following information unless otherwise specified: 1. NSN 2. Product Description 3. Manufacturers Lot number 4. Expiration date 3.8 Shelf life. Each chemiluminescent lig
21、ht shall have a minimum of 48 months life at the time of manufacture. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered materials. The Manufacture or Supplier is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation

The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers
23、own drawings, specifications, standards, quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Market acceptability. The products offered shall have been previously sold either
24、to the government or on the commercial market. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 7. Manufacturer shall provide evidence in the form of a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) (Fed-Std-313) that the components shall not be highly toxic, toxic, corrosive or irritant in terms of the definitions and tests in Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 1500 (Feder
29、al Hazardous Substances Act). Manufacturer shall certify that the chemical components contain no known members of the phthalate family of solvents. None of the components if tested individually will be classified as hazardous as defined by the US Department of Transportations Hazardous Materials Reg
30、ulations under 49 CFR 100-179. In particular, none of the individual components will be defined as a flammable liquid under these regulations and determined by ASTM Standard Test Method D56-05.
