ABSTRACT. This commercial item description (CID) covers Governm
2、ent requirements for a light weight, survival type, backpack carried, stove capable of using two or more different types of readily available liquid fuels. The stove may be used by personnel engaged in combat operations. 2. CLASSIFICATION. 2.1. Classes. The stoves shall be of the following classes a
3、s determined by the types of liquid fuels the stoves are specified to use. 6、e (including turbine fuels, Jet-A per ASTM D1655, JP-5 NATO Code F-441 per MIL-T-5624, and JP-8 per MIL-T-83133) * Naphtha * Gasoline (unleaded). 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1. Configuration. The stove shall be a single burner, open flame, with variable heat control, and tank configuration. A carry
7、ing apparatus shall be provided to accommodate stove and accessories. 3.1.1. Weiqht. The weight of the stove (including fuel tank carrying case, and accessories) shall not exceed 60 ounces (oz.) (without fuel). 3.1.2. Materials. Materials used in the construction of the stove shall be corrosion resi
8、stant or treated to resist corrosion and provide suitable strength-to-weight ratios to conform to the maximum weight objective (see 3.1.1) and performance objectives stated herein. 3.1.3. Fuel tank. Fuel tank capacity shall be not less than 4.1 oz. fluid measure. When stove is operated until fuel ex
9、haustion, not more than 0.5 oz. of fuel shall remain in the tank at flameout. The tank and associated components shall not leak. Pressure relief shall occur at 25 PSIG 23 PSI. 3.1.4. Cookware support. A stable platform to accommodate cookware having a minimum base diameter of five inches or larger s
10、hall be provided as an integral part of the stove. The design shape of the stove shall provide stability when it is set up on uneven or rough surfaces. When necessary, due to the shape of the bottom surface of the stove, legs (detachable or folding) shall be provided to stabilize the stove when it i
11、s used on rough or uneven surfaces. 3.2. Burner. Burner shall have a fuel control to adjust the flame over a heating range from simmer to fast boil (7500 BTU minimum heat output) at all operational altitudes. 3.2.1. Burner flame wind protection. A means shall be provided to shield the burner and fla
12、me from wind. Burner performance- Burner shall
13、operate from sea level to 20,000 feet above sea level without diminished flame performance (see 3.1.3). Burner shall provide for easy ignition at temperatures ranging from -32C to tropical ambient temperatures at all altitudes to 20,000 feet above sea level when fueled in accordance with the designa
14、ted stove classification and using the following fuels: kerosene; unleaded gasoline; diesel fuel (DF-A or DF-1 conforming to Federal Specification W-F-800); JP-4 NATO F-401 and JP-5 NATO F-441 (conforming to MIL-T-5624); and naphtha. 3.3, Preheater. When a preheater is required to heat the burner to
15、 accomplish fuel vaporization, it shall be furnished as an integral part of the stove assembly. The burner shall light from the flame of the preheater. 3-4. Gas generators (nozzles). Gas generators required to accommodate fuels specified in Paragraph 3.2.2 shall be furnished with the stove. Tool(s)
16、required for removal and replacement of the gas generator shall be furnished attached to the stove in a manner that prevents separation of the tool and the stove without impeding use of the tool for its intended application. 3.5. op eratinq instructions. Simple operating instructions shall be perman
17、ently affixed to the stove using decalcomania or other suitable methodology. Instructions shall be presented in sequential order for both fueling and operation of the stove. 3.6. Place and date of manufacture. Each stove shall bear a code to indicate the manufacturers plant where produced and the da
18、te that production occurred. This encoded information shall be permanently stamped or affixed to the stove. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1. Recycled materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum practical extent. Recycl
19、ed or reclaimed materials may be used in the construction of the equipment described herein- Recycled and reclaimed materials shall consist of previously used material which has been reprocessed to become a source of new raw materials. Under no conditions or circumstances shall the contractor submit
20、 to the Government for acceptance reconditioned or rebuilt components as a part of the equipment described herein. 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1. Workmanship. Castings, molded parts and stampings, shall be free of sand, fins, pits, blow holes, and sprues. The surfaces of
22、 parts to be welded or brazed shall be clean. All scale and flux shall be removed from the finished weld area. The welds shall be smooth. Threaded fasteners shall not be missing, broken, cracked, or stripped. There shall be no defects affecting serviceability, durability, operation or appearance. 5.
23、2. Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product offered for sale in the comercial marke
24、tplace. When specific quality assurance provisions are specified for any commercial characteristic the contractor shall maintain records resulting from his inspection(s) conducted in accordance with the specific quality assurance provisions. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such
25、 conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided under the provisions of the contract. The Government reserves the right to audit the contractors quality assurance records. 5.3. Successful commercial operation. No item of equipment off ereh under this CID shall b e ac
26、ceptable unless the manufacturer has marketed equipment of the-same size (similar capacity), and type in a commercial environment for a minimum period of one year. Equipment installed for test purposes in a manufacturers plant or test laboratory shall not be considered as complying with this require
27、ment. 5.4. Warrant . Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the manu + acturers standard commercial warranty terms shall apply 6. PACKAGING 6.1. Preservation, Packaqing, Packinq, Labeling, and Markinq. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract
