SCOPE This commercial item descr
2、iption covers mitten insertsworn by aircrew personnel under leather mittens (see figure 1).2. Classification. The mitten shall be made in one size.3. Salient Characteristics. The mitten shall be manufactured withwool-nylon blend mixed, carded, spun and twisted. The hand willbe a plain stitch and the
3、 cuff a 1 X 1 rib stitch. The wool shall be virgin fleece or pulled sheepswool, or a blend of both, not lower in grade than 56s (UnitedStates Standards for Grades of Wool).
6、3.1.4 Nylon. The nylon shall be 6 denier virgin nylon, crimpedand cut to a staple length of not less than 2-3/8 inches nor morethan 3-1/8 inches.3.1.5 Fiber content. The wool/nylon blend shall contain not lessthan 25% nor more than 32% nylon with the remainder all wool.3.1.6 Thread. The thread of al
7、l sewing shall be polyester3.1.7 Color. The color of the wool/nylon mitten shall be SageGreen, USAF shade 1525 (FED-STD-595), and the color of the threadshall match the color of the mitten. The color of the dyedmitten shall match the standard sample under natural (north sky)daylight, or artificial d
8、aylight having a color temperature of7500 Kelvin and shall be a good approximation to the standardsample under incandescent lamplight at 2800 kelvin.3.1.8 Sizes and measurements. Fulling and finishing. The mitten sha
10、ll be thoroughlyscoured, fulled, rinsed clean and, with the exception of thethumb, brushed or napped on the inside after fulling. Thefinished mittens shall be formed to proper shape and size.3.2 Labels. A commercial-type label is acceptable, provided thatan additional printed cloth label containing
11、the contractorsname, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) iscaught on the stitching of the commercial label. The commerciallabel shall include fiber and laundering information.3.3 Label/tag. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with apaper tag for personal clothing items. The p
12、aper tag shall bestandard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds.The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to acceptthermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a holeand shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legibleand readable by a scanner. T
13、he bar coding element shall be a 13digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code type shall be amedium to high code density and shall be located so that it iscompletely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packagedas specified and so that it causes no damage to the item.4. REGULATORY REQUI
14、REMENTS.4.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials.Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materialsshould be used to the maximum extent possible provided that thematerial meets or exceeds the operational and maintenancerequirements, and promotes economically advanta
15、geous life cyclecosts5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS5.1 Visual Examination. The mitten shall be examined for thedefects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in unitsof one mitten. The sample unit is one mitten. The inspectionlevel shall be I of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.Defects. The mitten shall be ex
16、amined for the following defects:any hole, cut, tear, color not as specified; any spot or stain(outside); thread ends not removed; label missing, incorrect, orillegible; measurement of item not as specified.5.2 Dimensional Examination. The finished mitten shall conformto the dimensions specified. An
17、y dimension that is not withinthe established tolerance shall be classified as a defect.5.3 Acceptance criteria. The products provided shall meet thesalient characteristics of this commercial item description,conform to the producers own drawings, specifications,standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the sameproduct offered for sale in the commercial market. 19、ves the right to require proof of suchconformance.6. PACKAGING6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. The preservation,packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract ororder.7.
