3、ommercial Item Description in preference to MIL-B-10042. 1 SCOPE. This document covers a general-purpose ammunition bag designed to accommodate various types of grenades and ammunition. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The ammunition bag shall be of one type and size (See Figure 1). 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. Th
4、e ammunition bag shall have one main compartment and an interior pocket for use in separating one particular type of grenade or ammunition ftom the other contents of the bag. The flap and back of the bag shall be reinforced. The interior pocket shall be formed fi-om a pocket body piece measuring 13
5、(2 1/4) inches by 13-1/2 (2 1/4) inches and a pocket bottom piece measuring 5-3/16 (2 l/S) inches by 6 (_+ l/S) tapering to 5-3/16 (+ 1/8) inches. The bag shall have a short carrying strap permanently attached to the bag for use when hand-carrying. The bag shall also be able to be shoulder-carried b
6、y using a general-purpose carrying sling, which attaches to dee rings attached to the bag. The finished dimensions of the bag shall be as follows: height 12-1/4 (I 3/8) inches, width 7-1/2 (+ 1/4) inches, and depth 5 (i 1/4) inches. Shall show a fastness to crocking equal to or better than the standard s
8、ample when tested in accordance with AATCC 8 (Crocking, colorfastness to). 3.1.2 Pocket body and pocket bottom. The pocket body and pocket bottom material shall be a plain weave, water repellent cloth, Camouflage Green 483. The cloth shall weigh 7.25 ounces per square yard with a minimum breaking st
9、rength of 325 pounds (warp) and 275 pounds (filling) when tested in accordance with ASTM D 5035, 1R (Textile fabrics, breaking force and elongation of). The cloth shall have a minimum tearing strength of 20 pounds, warp and filling, when tested in accordance with ASTM D 2261 (Fabrics, woven, by the
10、tongue (single rip) method (constant rate of extension tensile testing machine), tearing strength 00 and ASTM D 2262 (Fabrics, woven, by the tongue (single rip) method (constant rate of traverse tensile testing machine), tearing strength of), and a minimum water resistance spray rating of 90, 90, 80
11、 when tested in accordance with AATCC 22 (Water repellancy, spray test). The cloth shall have a minimum hydrostatic water resistance of 25 cm of water when tested in accordance with ASTM D 751 (Fabrics, coated). The cloth shall show colorfastness equal to or better than the standard sample when test
12、ed for laundering in accordance with AATCC-61 -lA (Laundering, colorfastness to), for dry cleaning in accordance with AATCC 132 (Wet dry cleaning, colorfastness to), for crocking in accordance with AATCC 8 (Crocking colorfastness to), and for light in accordance with AATCC 16-Opt. A (Light, colorfas
13、tness to). 3.1.3 Carrying strap. The strap shall be constructed of resin impregnated webbing. The finished length of the strap shall be 43-1/2 (2 1/2) inches. The width of the webbing shall be 2 (2 1/16) inches and the thickness shall be .O40 - .O70 inch when tested in accordance with ASTM D 1777 (M
14、easuring thickness of textile materials, method of). The color shall be Camouflage Green 483. The webbing shall weigh a maximum of 1.8 ounces per hear yard when tested in accordance with ASTM D 3776-Opt. C (Fabrics, mass per unit area (weight ) 00, and shall have a minimum breaking strength of 4,500
15、 pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM D 5035 (Textile fabrics, breaking force and elongation of). The finished webbing shall show fastness to light equal to or better than a rating of “good“ when tested in accordance to AATCC 16-A and shall show fastness to laundering equal to or better than a
16、 rating of “fair“ when tested in accordance to AATCC 61-1A. The finished webbing shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than an AATCC Chromatic Transference scale rating of not lower than 3.5 when tested in accordance to AATCC 8. 3.1.4 Chapes and Billet. The chapes and billet shall be co
17、nstructed of 1 (+1/16) inch wide, multifilament webbing with a minimum weight of 0.5 ounces per linear yard when tested in accordance with ASTM D 3776, Opt. C and a thickness of 0.046_+0.007 inch when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 1777. The webbing shall have a minimum breaking strength of 1 O00
18、pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM D 5035. The dyed webbing shall show fastness to light when tested in accordance with AATCC 16-A and laundering when tested in accordance with AATCC 61-IA equal to or better than a rating of “good“. The dyed webbing shall show fastness to crocking equal to o
19、r better than an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating of not lower than 3.5 when tested in accordance with AATCC 8. The color shall be Camouflage Green 483. 3.1.5 Binding. tape. The one inch wide (2 1/16 inch), 0.30 ounces per linear yard, 0.015-0.025 inch thick (when tested in accordance with
20、ASTM-D 1777) binding tape for the raw edges of the case shall be plain weave and shall be dyed Camouflage Green 483. The yarn shall be a bright, high tenacity, light and heat resistant polyamide. The tape shall have a breaking strength of 525 pounds (minimum) when tested in accordance with ASTM D 50
21、35. The tape and webbing shall not lose more than 25 percent of the original breaking strength upon exposure to light and heat when tested. (See 2.1.5.1 and 2.1 S.2.) Unless otherwise specified, a certificate of compliance shall be submitted and will be acceptable for the stated requirement. The tap

The dyed webbing shall show a fastness to light when tested in accor
23、dance with AATCC 16-A and laundering when tested in accordance with AATCC-61-IA equal to or better than the standard sample. 3.1.5.1 After light test. The tape for binding shall be subjected to the following light test: Five tests shall be conducted on each sample unit of the tape or .webbing. The t
24、est specimens shall be exposed in the accelerated weathering unit as specified in AATCC 11 1A-1988 (Weather Resistance). The unbacked specimen shall be placed in a stainless steel holder or suspended fiom the rack. Corex D filters and sunshine carbons shall be used. The exposure time shall be 50 hou
25、rs. The spray heads shall be shut off during the entire exposure period. The relative humidity conditions shall be 55 2 5 percent throughout the test cycle. At the end of the exposure period, the specimens shall be brought to equilibrium under standard conditions as defined in AATCC 11 1A-1988. The
26、specimens shall then be tested for breaking strength and the percent of breaking strength (B.S.) loss shall be calculated as follows: Original average B.S. - Averape B.S. after aping X 100 = %BS loss Original average B.S. 3.1.5.2 After heat test. The tape for binding shall be subjected to the follow
27、ing after heat test: Five tests shall be conducted on each sample unit of the tape or webbing. The test specimens shall be suspended in a circulating air oven at a temperature of 180OC 5 50 (356O 5 50) for 1 hour. After removal 7om the oven, the specimen shall be brought to equilibrium under standar
28、d conditions as defined in ASTM D 5035. The specimens shall then be tested for breaking strength as specified in ASTM D 5035 and the percent of breaking strength loss shall be calculated as fo 110 w s : Ori-inal average B.S. - Average B.S. after aging X 100 = %BS loss Original average B.S. 3.1.6 Thr
29、ead. The thread for all stitching shall be twisted soft multiple cord with a nonwicking finish. The thread shall be dyed Camouflage Green 483. The thread shall have a minimum breaking strength of 16.0 pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM-D 2256 (Yams by the single strand method, tensile proper
30、ties of) and a maximum elongation of 26 percent when tested in accordance with ASTM D 2256. 3.1.7 Buckle, non-slip, 1 inch. The 1 inch buckle shall be composed of a top and bottom section made of corrosion-resistant steel and a spring made of corrosion-resistant steel. The buckle shall have a dull,
31、black, oxide finish. 3.1.8 Grommet and washer. The grommet shall be rolled rim with spur washer. The grommet and washer shall be brass with a black chemical finish. The grommet and washer shall be trade size O, with the outer diameter of the grommet .670 2 .O05 inches and the outer diameter of the s
32、pur washer .645 2 .O05 inches. 3.1.9 Rings, dee. The dee rings shall be 1 inch by 314 inch, brass or steel wire, with a black chemical finish. 3.1.1 O Snaphook. The size 1 -inch snap hook shall be comprised of a wire body, a fixed loop eye, and a flat spring closure with retainer. 3.2 u. The identif
33、ication marking shall be applied on the inside of the back of the ammunition bag. The marking shall be applied to the cloth by a black marking medium. The letters “US“ shall be applied in 3/4-inch characters in the location shown in Figure 1. The identification marking shall i
35、nclude the following information with a minimum print size of 18 point: Item description Contract number Stock number Contractors name (bottom of label) 3.3 Labelhag. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with a paper tag. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of
36、 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit national stock number
37、 (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded andor packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 4. REGULATORY REOUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recove
38、red materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. OUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the
39、 producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and to be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual Examination. The bag shall be examined for the defects listed
40、below. 5.2.1 Defects. Any hole, cut, tear, color not as specified; any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); webbing and tape ends not fused or not as specified; general hardware (snaphooks, grommets, etc.) broken or malformed failing to serve intended purpose or functioning improperly; binding
41、tape loosely applied exposing raw edge of material; raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed or loose tension resulting in loose seams; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any component part omitted; marking missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as sp
42、ecified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human- readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.3 Acceptance criteria. Accep
43、tance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation. Packing, and Marking.
