1、 A-A-59849 20 November 2009 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION PROTECTOR, ROPE This commercial item description is approved for use by the Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description co
2、vers the requirements for a rope protector which is used to protect a rope from excessive abrasion from rough surfaces such as rock and dirt. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The rope protector will be furnished in the one type and size: 2.1 Sizing. The rope protector will be as light-weight as possible, while me
3、eting the standards in the description. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Description. The rope protector design shall provide ease of use with typical combat gloves while meeting the standards in the description. The ropes protector shall provide protection to all types of ropes in as specified in wit
4、h A-A-59835. The rope protector shall be capable of completely wrapping around the rope to ensure it doesnt slip out during movement. The rope protector shall be capable of being attached to the rope it protects or to another rope or anchor to prevent slipping down the rope. The means of attachment
5、shall not prevent adjustment of the protector rope along the length of the rope. The rope protector shall be 24 inches ( 2) inches long. The rope protector shall be provided in a low reflectance, matte fin
8、ish and provide low contrast with typical use terrain unless otherwise stated in the contract or solicitation. (See 7.2). 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Basic material The rope protector shall be provided in a number eight (8) cotton duck or similarly durable material. 3.4 Workmanship. The finished rope prote
9、ctor shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the contractors own quality assurance standards and the quality assurance standards defined in the technical data in the solicitation and/or contract. 3.5 Service life. The rope prot
10、ector shall have no unexpected material or component failures during a continuous one-year cycle. The rope protector shall have no unexpected material or component failures during periodic use over a five year period. 3.6 Labels/barcoding/instruction slip. If applicable, all labeling, barcoding and
11、instruction slip requirements shall be as specified in the solicitation or contract (see 7.2). 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR
12、). 4.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements and promotes economically advantag
13、eous life cycle costs. 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same prod
14、uct offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination.
