14、e nuts shall be made of carbon steel in accordance with FED-STD-66 composition i151 or ASTM A 563M property class 9. 3.3 Hardness. Nut hardness shall not exceed 30HRC. 3.4 Pyotective finish. Protective finishes shall be as follows: 3.4.1 Cadmium Dlatinq. Nuts shall be cadmium plated in accordance wi
15、th QQ-P-416, type II, class 2 (7.6 pm thick). 3.4.2 Zinc coatinq. Nuts shall be zinc coated in accordance with QQ-Z-325, type II, class 2 (13 pm thick). 3.4.3 Hvdronen embrittlement. Cadmium plated carbon steel nuts shall be subjected to an embrittlement relief treatment within four hours after plat
16、ing in accordance with QGP-416. 3.5 Desinn. 3.5.1 a Ihreads. Nut threads shall conforni to the llM1l profile, tolerance class 6H, as defined in FEbSTbH28/21. 3.5.2 Concentricitv. The thread axis shall be concentric with axis of the nut body within a tolerance equal to 3 percent for all hexagon nuts.

The depth of discontinuities such as laps, seams and inclusions in the nuts shall be no greater than 3 percent of the nominal thread size. The length of discontinuities shall not exceed the height of

Forging cracks located in the top and bottom face are permitted provtded: no more than two forging cracks extend from the thread across the full width of the face; no forging crack extends into the thread beyo

Forging cracks located at the intersection of the top or bottom face with a flat are permitted provided that the width does not exceed 0.25 mm plus 0.020D, w

Nuts shall withstand the proof loads specified in table I without rupture of metal or thread stripping. nuts shall be manually removeable
22、 from a mating bolt or mandrel without. assistance of a tool except for the initial one-half turn of the nut, Upon removal of the proof load, 3.10 Workmanship. Finished nuts shall be uniform in quality and appearance. Surfaces shall be free of foreign matter, burrs, loose scale and any other defects
23、 which may adversely affect serviceability. 4 0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS . 4.1 Resmnsibilitv for inspection. When specified (see 6.2), 4.6.4 Proof load. Samples taken as specified in 4.5.4 shall be mounted on a mandrel in accordance with figure 1, and

Mandrel hardness shall be QSHRC, minimum, and threads shall be class 5hhg in accordance with FED-STD-H28/21, except that the maximum major diameter shall be the minimum major diameter plus 0.25 times the class 68; tolerance range. lhe nut shall withstand the spe
