Specifications and standards for necessary commodities and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD- 20

All materials used in the

12、construction ofthe bumper shall be new and unused. e *3.3 Design and construction. The bumper shall be constructed of two cellular, sponge rubber cores completely covered on their curved surfaces with a woven cotton fabric coated as specified herein. The woven cotton fabric surrounding the rubber co

13、res niay be permanently bonded to the cores ofvulcanizing at the time of nianufacture or, if not. the fabric shall be sewn snugly around the rubber cores. The rubber cores shall be in the cured condition after tina1 processing of the bumper. The bumper shall conform to Figure 1 in its final conditio

14、n ready for shipnient. *3.3.1 Cores- The cores shall be of cellular rubber conforming to MIL-R- 1630, type I or type II, grade A, condition mediuni. 3.3.2 Fabric. The fabric material shall conform to MIL-(2-10799, type II, class 4, Table I. The coated color shall be green, color 24052. conforming to

15、 MIL-C-83286 or MIL-1-85285. “3.3.3 Stitchine. Ihe fabric cover shall be secured at the center by two rows of stitching with thread conforming to size. The stitching shall be as shown on Figure 1 and shall have 4 to 8 stitches per inch 3.3.4 Grommets. At intervals of6 j1/4 inch, the bumper shall hav

16、e 1/2 by 3/4 inch oblong brass grommets across the flanse and a 1/4 bv 7/ I6 inch opening after installation. The formed flange shall be on the seam side of the bumper. The flanle shall be securely formed without a washer. O 3.4 Length. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the buniper shall be furn

17、ished in 100 +1/2 foot lengths. 3.5 Identification of product. Each 100 foot length of bumper shall be marked for identification in accordance with MIL-STD- 130. 3.6 Workinanship. The bumper shall be fabricated and finished in a worknianship manner. Particular attention shaH be given to freedoin fro

18、m blemishes and defects, vulcanizing and stitching, et cetera. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS “4. 1 Responsibilitv for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of ai inspection requirements as specified herein. Except

19、as otherwise specified in the contract or order. the supplier niay use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. llie Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in

The ins

21、pection and testing of the bumper shall be classified as acceptance tests. 4.3 Acceptance tests. Acceptance tests shall consist of the test described in 4.4.1 4.4 Test Methods. 4.4.1 Examination of product. The bumper shall be inspected to determine compliance with this specification with respect to

22、 material. stitching. vulcanizing, dimensions. and workmanship. *4.5 Insuection of ureservation. uackarrin-, packing - and marking for shipment and storage. Sample items or packs and the inspection of the preservation, packaging, packing and marking for shipment and storaye shall be in accordance wi

23、th the requirements of Section 5, or the documents specified therein. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY “5.1 Preservation and packaging. Preservation and packaging shall be Levei A or C, as specified (see 6.2). “5.1.1 Level A. *S. 1.1.1 Cleanin3 and drying. The bumper shall be cleaned in accordance with C

24、- 1 and dried with procedure D- 1 and D-4 of MIL-P- I i 6. *5.1.1.2 Unit packagk The bumper shall be packaged in accordance with Methods IC of MIL- P-116. The outer container shall be a fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-636, style RSC. class overseas. The box shall be sealed with tape conforming to

25、 PPP-T-60, or equal. *5.1.2 Level C. Each bumper shall be packaged to afford protection against deterioration and physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the first receiving activity. The level may conform to the suppliers commercial practice when it meets the requirements of this

26、level. “5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, B, or C, as specified (see 6.2). “5.2.1 Level A. The bumpers. packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed for shipment in shipping containers conforming to PPP-B-60 1. overseas type. style A or B. Closure and strapping shall be in accordance with the

27、appendix to the container specification. *5.2.2. Level B. 28、792E 9999906 1972771 366 *5.2.3 Level C. The bumpers, packaged as specified in 5. i, shall be packed to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination. Containers shall conform to the Uniform Freight Classification Rules or regulations of the other carriers as applicable to the mode of t

29、ransportation. This may conform to the suppliers commercial practice when such meets the requirements of this level. *5.3 Phvsical Protection. Interior cushioning, anchoring, blocking or bracing shall be in accordance with MIL-STD- 1 186. “5.4 Markina. In addition to any special marking required by

30、the contract or order, unit packages and shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with the requirements of MIL- STD- 129. 6. NOTES 6.1 intended use. he bumper is intended to be installed on maintenance stands to protect aircraft, from damage incurred in bringing such maintenance stands into

31、 use. The bumper may be fastened through grommets to the article by means of rivets, screws, nails or other methods. 6.2 Ordering; data. Procurement documents should specie the following: a. Title, number, and date of this specification. b. If bumper is to be furnished in other than 100-foot lengths

32、 (see 3.4). c. Applicable level of preservation, packaging, and packing (see 5.1 and 5.2). *6.3 The margins of this specification are marked with an asterisk to indicate where changes (additions, modifications, corrections, deletions) from the previous issue were made. This was done as a convenience

33、 only and the Government assume no liability whatsoever for any inaccuracies in these notations. Bidders and contractors are cautioned to evaluate the requirements of this document based on the entire content irrespective of the marginal notations and relationship to the last previous issue. 6.4 Rec
