16、regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Standard sample. The finished cloth shall match the standard sample for shade and shall be equal to or better than the standard sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is referenced (see 6
17、.3). The standard sample is identified under piece number 85084. 3.2 First article. When specified, the contractor shall furnish sample unit(s) for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3. and 6.2). 3.3 Material. 3.3.1 Stock. 3.3.1.1 Wool. The stock shall be fleece or pulled wool or both, not
18、 lower in grade th-4 U. S. Standard when tested as specified in 4.4.1.1. 3.3.1.2 Pol ester. The stock shall be semi-dull polyester fiber made from appropriate. The fiber shall be 3 denier and the minimum average fiber length shall be 3 inches when tested as specified in 4.4.1. * 3.3.2 Polyesterboo1
19、yarn. The polyester and wool fibers shall be blended and spun on the worsted system and twisted into a 2-ply yarn for both warp and filling yarns. The finished cloth shall contain 75 + 2 percent polyester and 25 + 2 percent wool, based on the weight obtained from chloroform extraction, when tested a
20、s specified in 4.6. polyethylene -47 g yco terephthalate, either homopolymer or modified polymer as 3.4 Color. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the color of the cloth smbe shade Blue 3346 and shall match the standard sample (see 6.3). The color shall be obtained by top dyeing. 3 Provided

The finished cloth shall match the standard sample when having a correlated color temperature of 7500 + 200 K, with illumination of 100 + 20 foot candles,
22、 and shall be a good mat& to the standard sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 - + 200 K. viewed un a-# er i tered tungsten lamps which approximate artificial daylight * 3.4.2 Colorfastness. The finished cloth shall show colorfastness to laundering (3 cycles), wet drycleaning, perspiration, l
23、ight (40 Standard Fading Hours) and crocking equal to or better than the standard sample. As a limit of acceptability, or when no standard sample is available, the finished cloth shall show a mimimum of “good“ colorfastness to laundering (3 cycles), wet drycleaning, perspiration, light (40 Standard
24、Fading Hours) and shall show a crocking rating of not lower than 3.0 for dry and a 2.5 for wet when tested as specified in 4.6. 3.5 Moth roofin . Mothproofing of the wool top shall be in accordance with MIL-C-4Mested in accordance with 4.6. * 3.6 Physical requirements. The finished cloth shall confo

Cloth manufactured under t be labeled in accordance with the Wool Products Labeling Act of 1939. , 3.11 Markin . The back o
30、f the cloth shall be marked “Back“ at both ends of each rold letters not less than 1/2 inch in height (see 4.4. marking shall be clearly legible in any indelible marking u 3.12 workmanshi . The finished cloth shall . conform to the quality establidis specification. The demerit points per 100 square
31、yards when calculated as specified in section 4, shall not exceed the established maximum point value. Each defect shall be marked with a 1-to-1 1/2 inch long string. The string shall be sewn into the selvage near the defect, A red string shall represent a three or four point defect and a white stri
32、ng shall represent a one or two point defect (see 4.4.2.5). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS * 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise ied in the- contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible f perf ormance of all inspection requirements (examination and tests) as specified h
33、erein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or orde tractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for perfo the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specifi
34、cation where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. * 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must me all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors
35、overall inspection system or qua-lity . program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. 39、h and appearance and shall be tested for chemical and physical properties in accordance with the applicable methods specified in 4.6. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-6!%, except where otherwise indicated. 4.4.1 Component and m
40、aterial inspection. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be tested in accordance with all the requirements of referenced specifications, drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. A roll shall be unacceptable if it fails to meet the requirements for shade match and finish. The sample unit shall be a 4 inch by 20 inch swatch of the cloth. A sample unit shall be drawn from eac
