14、 has been obtained. 2 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. Materials shall be as specified herein. When materials are not specifically designated, those used shall be new, of the same or better quality as used in commercial practice, and entirely suitable for the purpose intended. When dissimilar metals a

15、re used in contact with each other, suitable protection against galvanic corrosion shall be applied to material. 3.2 First article, The contractor shall furnish one or more compressors as specified for examination and testing within the time frame specified by contracting officer to prove prior to s

16、tarting production that his production methods will produce compressors that comply with the requirements of this specification. Examination and tests shall be as specified herein. All examinations and tests shall be conducted by the contractor subject to surveillance and approval by the Government.

17、 3.3 Description. The air compressor and dehydrator shall be a portable, compact, integral unit using a nominal 1.5 horsepower (hp) motor coupled directly to compressor. The unit shall be equipped with a storage tank and an air dryer, all stored within a reinforced carrying case, The system shall be

An electric cord, at least 10 feet in length with “hospital grade” plug shall be provided to permit connection of air compressor to electrical system. The air compressor

28、 shall withstand the dielectric strength test specified in 4.4.3.8. 3.4.5 Storaqe tank. The storage tank shall be at least 3.0 gallons and tested to meet the requirements of A.S.M.E Boiler and Pressure Vessel code OP be National Board Approved (stamped UM, inspected by tank manufacturer). Tank shall

29、 be constructed for internal pressure of at least 375 psig at 650OF. The-vaive shall operate automatically, sensing pressure in the storage tank and activating to prevent pressure build-up greater than 125 psig in storage tank. 3.4.8 Pressure switch. Shall be an Underw

32、riters Laboratories (UL) recognized, heavy duty double-poe, snap-action switch, actuated by pressure in the tank to start and stop compressor to maintain a pressure differential of 20 psi, starting with the compressor at 60 psig and stopping the compressor at 80 psig. 3.4.9 Hoses and fittinqs. The c

33、ompressor- shall be provided with two (2) high pressure air delivery hoses each 10 feet in length aiid fitted with a No. 294-PB, 3/8 inch O.D. female Kwik- Connect Coupler body, or equal,on one end, and a No. 294-PM, 3/8 inch O.D. male Kwik-Connect Coupler, or equa1,on the other end. The compressor shall be furnished completely assembled in a olive drab, rotationally molded, corrosion reoistant, dust-proof, moisture vapor proof and rigid polyethylene reuseable carryi

35、ng storage case. The storage case shell material shall meet the requirements of Federal Speciication L-P-390 for type I, class M, grade 2, polyethylene or equal. The case shall be lined with a sound absorbing material. Provisions shall be made to permit compressor operation with the cover portion of

36、 the carrying case elevated at least four inches above the lower portion, by means of rotatable support arms so as to achieve maximum sound reduction. The case ohall be equipped with a cushioning and support system sufficient to protect the contents from damage in transit and storage due to vibratio

37、n, shock, or compxession. Materials used in case design and construction shall be compatible with chemical agent decontamination or painted with a chemical agent resistant aliphatic polyurethane coating in accordance with MIL-C-46168. i t The case shall provide the compressor storage and transport p

38、rotection in environments where temperatures range from 400 to 600C (storage) and minus 300 to 50OC (transport) and relative humidity range from O to 95% (non-condensing). An automatic/manual precsure/vacuum relief valve in accordance with MIL-V-27166 (Get at 4 0.5 psig) shall be installed within a

39、recessed area of the case wail (see 4.4.3.7). Seal shall be verified by pneumatic pressure technique of Federal Standard TeGt Method 101, method 5009. The case outer surfaces shall be self draining when stored in the normal upright: shipping attitude. The ca8e shall have corrosion resistant steel, s

40、pring loaded, fullgrip 900 stop handles, capable of being used by personnel wearing gloves or mittens. Inside dimension of the bail shall be 4 inches by 1.5 inches minimum. Quantity and placement of handles shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-1472. of compressor and case design shall meet the vibrat

41、ion and shock tests rspecieied in 4.4.3.4 and 4.4.3.5, respectively. The case, with compressor packed inside shall not exceed 10,000 cubic inches or 160 pounds in total weight. O The mounting 3.5 Finish. The compressor shall be fabricated from materials which are inherently resistant to corrosion or

42、 which axe treated to render them corrosion-resistant. Where painting or plating is used, appropriate cleaning and priming shall be performed prior to finishing. Unless otherwise specified, finish shall be equivalent or superior to that of comparable commercial equipment, and shall be free of gaps,

All castings shall be free of extraneous material such as sand, dirt,

44、 pits, sprues, scale, and flux. Fins resulting from line-of-parting of sand mods shall be ground or machined flush with adjacent material. Imperfections in castings may be corrected by welding provided it will cause no degradation in strength or performance. free from rust, scale, burn spots, paint,

45、 grease, and other deformation or failure when the parts connected by the welds are subjected to proof and service loading. penetration and fusion of the metal shall be obtained. fabrication of the compressor shall be free from kinks and sharp bends. The straightening of material shall be done by me

46、thods that will not cause cracking or permanent deformation. Shearing and clipping shall be done neatly and accurately. Corners shall be square and true. a major character shall be made with metal dies or fixtures in order to insure uniformity of size and shape. All burrs and rough edges shall be re

47、moved. 3.6.2 Welding. The surfaces of parts to be welded shall be -% foreign matter. Welds shall transmit stress without permanent Complete and uniform I 3.6.3 Metal fabrication. Where tolerances are not specified, standard commercial tolerances shall be permissible. Tolerances shall be held to a minimum where accuracy is of paramount importance for proper operation and interchangeability of component parts. Assemblies shall be precision-fitted
