The coated cloth shall match the standard sample for shade and appearance and shall be equal to or better than the standard sample with respect to the characteristics for which the sta
21、ndard sample is referenced (see 6.3). 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Basic material. The basic fabric shall be plain woven using the yarn specified in 3.3.2. Th
22、e weight of the basic fabric shall be 3.0 +- 0.3 ounces per square yard. The construction of the woven fabric shall be 10 warp yarns and 10 filling yarns per inch (2 1/2 yarn per inch). 3.3.2 Yarn. The yarn shall be made from slit film ribbons of high density polyethylene polymer, shall be 950 2 50
23、deni-er, and shall be suitably compounded, oriented, and heat stabilized to meet the requirements of the finished coated and laminated cloth. 3.3.3 Coatinq compound. The coating compound shall be a low density polyethylene coating suitably compounded and pigmented such that the finished, coated and
24、laminated cloth conforms to the requirements of 3.5 and 3.6. The coating compound shall contain a flame inhibitor. 0 3.3.4 Coated cloth. The base fabric of 3.3.1 shall be coated on each side with 1.4 $i 0.1 ounces per square yard of the coating specified in 3.3.3. 3.3.5 Plastic film. The plastic fil
25、m shall be a flexible, polyamide and polyethylene plastic film conforming to MIL-P-44305. 3.4 Coated and laminated cloth. The back or polyethylene side of the plastic film specified in 3.3.5 shall be laminated to one side of the coated cloth specified in 3.3.4. The plastic film side of the coated an

The color of both sides shall match the standard sample (see 6.3), when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and that have a correlated color temperature of 7500 2 200K, with illumination of 100 2 20
31、foot candles. The color shall be a good match to the standard sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 2 200K. 3.7 Width. The minimum overall width of the finished coated and laminated cloth, after selvage trimming, shall be 45 inches. Selvages shall be trimmed to give a straight, uniform edge. I
32、f the plastic film used is narrower than the 45 inches overall width requirement, it shall be positioned so that the edges are equidistant from the trimmed edges of the cloth. 3.8 Lenqth and put-up. Each roll shall contain no less than 180 yards, nor more than 220 yards. The maximum number of pieces
33、 per roll shall be four, and no single piece shall be less than 20 yards in length. The ends of the pieces shall be overlapped and not joined by a seam. The face side of the finished, coated and laminated cloth shall be wound toward the outside of the roll. The cloth shall be put-up in rolls as spec
34、ified in 5.1. 3.9 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality of product established by this document and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 0 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 R.esponsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise speci
35、fied in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements, examinations, and tests; as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for
36、 the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed req
37、uirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of Sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this Specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the Specificatio

Sampling inspection,
39、 as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements; however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.1.2 Certificate of complian
40、ce. Where certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4
41、.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for the appearance and length defects listed in Table III and tested for the characteristics specified in Table IV. The presence of any defect or failure t
42、o pass any test shall be cause for rejection of the first article. 4.4 Qualitv conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105, except where otherwise indicated. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and material
43、s shall be tested in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents, drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this Specification or applicable procurement documents. O 4.4.2 End item examination. Examination of the end item shall be in accor
44、dance with 4.4.2.1 through 4.4.2.2. 4.4.2.1 Lenqth and put-up examination. Each roll of cloth used in the yard-by-yard examination shall be examined for the defects listed below. If the total number of defects in the sample rolls exceeds the applicable acceptance number specified in Table II; or if
45、the total of the actual lengths of the sample rolls is less than the total of the lengths marked on the roll tickets, the lot shall be rejected: Total length of roll less than 180 yards or more than 220 yards. Total length of roll is 2 or more yards less than that marked Roll contains more than four

47、L-C-44304A 4.4.2.2 Yard-by-yard examination. The coated and laminated cloth shall be examined for the defects listed in Table III. The required yardage of each roll shall be examined on one side only; however, the side shall be alternated so that alternate rolls are examined on the face and back, re
48、spectively. The defects found shall be counted regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of the cloth, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warpw
49、ise yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs. The lot size shall be expressed in units of yards. The sample unit shall be 1 linear yard. The inspection level shall be III, and the Acceptance Quality Level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.5 for major defects and 2.5 for total (major and minor combined) defects. The number of rolls from which the sample yardage is to be selected shall be as specified in Table II. The sample yardage shall be apportioned equally among the selected rolls. TABLE II.
