SCOPE 1.1 Scop

2、e. This specification covers the fabric components of a frame-supported tent equipped, which can stand-alone or be complexed with other tents or vehicles. 1.2 Classification. 32、TL-44400A 4.3.5 End item testing. Tents shall be tested as specified in 4.4. The lot size shall be expressed in units of end items. The sample unit shall be one tent. The inspection level shall be S-2. Any test failure shall be cause for rejection of the lot. “4.3.6 Packaging examination. The fully

33、packaged end items shall be examined for marking, materials, workmanship and content defects. 4.4 Mcthods of inspcction. 4.4.1 Wicking of sewing thread (cup test). The end item unit shall be tested once on a wall assembly panel feld seam (see 3.3.5). 4.4.1.1 Procedure. Suspend the seamed section of

34、the test fabric in the center of a 6 1/8 inch diameter hoop and form a depression with the seamed fabric in the hoop to a depth of 1 - + ?A inch. Slowly pour 500 ml of water at 77“ observe the under surface of the fabric for water penetration. Any wicking of water along the sewing thread, identified

35、 by a discoloration or darkening of the thread within 5 minutes after water is poured shall constitute a test failure. Water leakage through the needle holes or between the plies of the lapped seam fabric shall not be considered a failure. 4F into the cupped area (depression) and 4.4.2 Seam leakage

36、test. The end item unit shall be tested on one roof cap assembly, one rain gutter assembly and one floor assembly for seam leakage on an area of stitching that has been treated with seam sealant (see 3.3.6). The end item unit shall be laid over a 6 1/8 inch diameter hoop and form a depression with t

37、he seamed fabric in the hoop to a depth of 1 ?A inch with the seam to be tested running through the center of the depression. Slowly pour 500 ml of water at 77“ 4F into the cupped area (depression) and observe the under surface of the fabric for water penetration. Any wicking of water along the sewi

38、ng thread, identified by a discoloration or darkening of the thread within 5 minutes after water is poured shall constitute a test failure. Water leakage through the needle holes or between the plies of the lapped seam fabric shall not be considered a failure. 4.4.3 Seam strength test. The end item

39、unit seams shall be tested in accordance with Method 831 1 of FED-STD-601. Any break in the seam that indicates the seam strength is less than 80% of the fabric strength shall be considered a test failure (see 3.3.7). 5. PACKAGING “5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements

40、shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). When actual packaging of materiel is to be performed by DoD personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain requisite packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Co

41、ntrol Points packaging activity within the Military Department or Defense Agency, or within the Military Departments System Command. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the respon

42、sible packaging activity. 6. The tent is int

43、ended for the standardized integrated command post system (SICPS). The class 1 tent is to be used in all theaters except the desert. The class 2 tent is to be used in the desert. “6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following: a. Title, number, and date of this speci

44、fication. b. Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation, and if required, the specific issue of individual documents referenced (see 2.1.1 and 2.2). c. When first article is required (see 3.1, 4.2 and 6.4). d. Levels of preservation and packing (see 5.1). e. Class required (see 1.2). 6.3 Sample

45、. For access to standard sample, address the contracting activity issuing the invitation for bids. 6.4 First article. When a first article is required, it will be inspected and approved under the appropriate provisions of FAR 52.209. The first article should be a preproduction sample. The contractin

46、g officer should specify the appropriate type of first article and the number of units to be furnished. The contracting officer should include specific instructions in all acquisition instruments regarding arrangements for selection, inspection, and approval of the first article. “6.5 Seam sealer su

47、pply source. A source of supply for seam sealer used in 3.3.6 is Kenyon Consumer Products, P.O. Box 3715 1425 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale, Rhode Island 02883. “6.6 Commercial adhesive. A source of supply for the commercial adhesive specified in 3.3.9 is the Minnesota Mining & Mfg. Co., 3M Center, St.
