SCOPE 1.1 Scope

This specification covers electrically-operated 24-volt (V), direct current (dc), in-tank fuel pumps capable of delivering 200 gallons per hour (gph) with outlet pressure at 4 pounds per square inch gauge (psig) (see 6.1). 1.2 Part or Identifying Number (PIN). Unless otherwise noted here in or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited her

Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Specification sheets. The individual item requirements shall be

18、as specified herein and in accordance with the applicable specification sheet. In the event of any conflict between requirements of this specification and the specification sheets, the latter shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article insp

19、ection in accordance with 4.4. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance req

20、uirements, and promotes economically advantageous life-cycle cost. 3.3.2. Pump motor housing. The pump motor housing shall be made of CRES. 3.3.3 Pump body, mounting bracket and hardware plating. The pump body, mounting bracket and hardware shall be plated to resist corrosion, see 3.3.4 and 3.3.5. 3

21、.3.4 Cadmium plating. All steel alloys other than CRES. 3.3.4.1 Electrical cable connectors. Electronic cable connectors shall be cadmium plating in accordance with SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416, type 1, class 1. 3.3.4.2 Screws, nuts, and bolts. Screws, nuts, and bolts shall be cadmium plated in accordance with

22、SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416, type II, class 3. 3.3.4.3 Cushion retainer, pump cover, and discharge tube fitting. Cushion retainer, pump cover, and discharge tube fitting shall be cadmium plated in accordance with SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416, type I, class 2. 3.3.4.4 Cadmium is not recommended. Carbon steel material with

23、cadmium plating shall only be used when other materials and finishes specified in this document cannot meet performance requirements (see 6.5). 24、cable connectors, screws, nuts, nuts, cushion retainer, pump cover, and discharge tube. 3.3.5.1 Zinc plating. Zinc plating shall be in accordance with ASTM B633; type II or III, Fe/Zn 5, or ASTM B695, type II, class 5. 3.3.5.2 Zinc plating hexavalent free. Zinc plating in shall be in accordance with

25、 ASTM B633, type VI, Fe/Zn 5 and shall be hexavalent chromium free. 3.3.5.3 Aluminum nickel. Aluminum-nickel in accordance with ASTM F1136, grade 3, NC. 3.3.5.4 Zinc phosphate. Zinc phosphate shall be in accordance with MIL-DTL-16232, type Z. 3.3.5.5 Zinc nickel. Zinc nickel shall be in accordance w

26、ith SAE-AMS 2417, type 1. 3.3.5.6 Nickel. Nickel plating shall be in accordance with SAE- AMS-QQ-N-290, class 2, grade B. Note: For new design it is recommended that phosphate coating be specified when electrodeposited zinc or cadmium plating is not required. 3.3.5.7 Nickel is not recommended. Carbo

27、n steel material with nickel plating shall only be used when other materials and finishes specified in this document cannot meet performance requirements (see 6.5). 3.3.5.8 Finish. All platings shall be capable of meeting the 100 hour salt spray test in accordance with 4.6.22. Fluid passages, other

28、openings, and internal threads shall not be subject to the plating thickness requirement and may have bare areas provided they are protected with a light film of oil. The following exceptions shall apply: a. Phosphate coated fittings shall be subjected to all tests as specified in MIL-DTL-16232, Cla

29、ss 1, except for the salt spray test. The salt spray test is required only to verify the phosphating process or changes thereto. b. Passivated fittings shall be subjected only to the copper sulfate tests as specified in SAE-AMS-STD-753, test method 102. Fittings passing this test shall be returned t

30、o stock for usage after each fitting is thoroughly rinsed in deionized water and thoroughly dried. 3.4 Design and construction. 3.4.1 Motor assembly. When tested as specified in 4.6.2 the motor assembly shall be hermetically sealed. 3.4.2 Threaded parts. All screw threads shall conform to FED-STD-H2

31、8. 3.4.3 Dissimilar metals. Except where necessary to complete an electrical circuit, contact between dissimilar metals that would encourage galvanic corrosion shall be avoided. Where such contact is not necessary to complete an electrical circuit, but is otherwise unavoidable, protection against el

32、ectrolysis and corrosion shall be provided. The pump pressure and flow characteristics shall equal or exceed those illustrated by the curves sh

33、own on the individual specification sheet with the pump motor current not exceeding 4.5 amperes under any of these operating conditions at 800 feet elevation, when tested as specified in 4.6.3. 3.5.2 Pumpdown. The pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates specified on the individual sp

34、ecification sheet at all fuel levels 1.5 inches or more above the lowest point of the pump, when tested as specified in 4.6.4. When tested as specified in 4.6.5, the pump shall be capable of withstanding operation in a dry fuel tank for a period of not less than 4 hours, without evidence of damage or impairment of performa

36、nce. 3.5.4 Electromagnetic compatibility. When tested as specified in 4.6.6, the pump shall meet the CE102 requirements of MIL-STD-461 pertaining to military vehicles. If a radio frequency noise filter is required, the radio-frequency noise filter shall be an integral part of the pump. Provided by I

The pump insulation shall show no loosening, cracking, charring, burning, smoking, rupture, or other damage with the internal ground and radio suppressor ground strap(s) d

38、isconnected, when tested as specified in 4.6.7. 3.5.6 Vapor separation. When tested as specified in 4.6.8, the pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 with fuel at 155 F (68.3 C). When the pump inlet is removed from the heated fuel and then re-submerged, the pump shall re

39、-establish that performance within a period of 5 seconds. 3.5.7 Flow through. When tested as specified in 4.6.9, the minimum flow at the pump outlet shall be not less than 60 gph (3.8 lph) when the pump is electrically disconnected and the pump is subjected to either a 1 psig (7kpa) pressure at the

40、pump inlet or, where a pump by-pass system is used, a vacuum of approximately 2 inches (51 mm) of mercury at the pump outlet. 3.5.8 On-off cycling. When tested as specified in 4.6.10, the pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 within 3 seconds after power is turned off a

41、nd then reapplied. 3.5.9 Endurance. When tested as specified in 4.6.11, the pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 after not less than 1,500 hours of continuous operation. The pump shall require no maintenance during this time period. 3.5.10 Coupling capability (static).

42、 The pump delivery shall reach a minimum of 200 gph (757 lph) at 4 psig within 60 seconds of starting, when tested as specified in 4.6.12. 3.5.11 Coupling capability (dynamic). An operating pump shall start pumping within 5 seconds after immersion, and the impeller shall not decouple when tested as

43、specified in 4.6.13. 3.5.12 Electrical continuity The electrical resistance between the pump housing and the wire braid on the power cable, and between the 0.4375-28 UNEF-2A thread and the wire braid, shall be less than 1 ohm, when tested as specified in 4.6.14. See the appropriate specification she

44、et for the locations of these items. 3.6 Environmental requirements. 3.6.1 Low and high temperature operation. When tested as specified in 4.6.15.1 and 4.6.15.2, the pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 at any temperature between -65 and 130 F (-54C and 54C). 3.6.2 Exp

45、losion-proofness. When tested as specified in 4.6.16, the pump shall not cause ignition of an explosive fuel mixture. 3.6.3 Shock resistance. When tested as specified in 4.6.17, the pump shall withstand, without damage or impairment of performance, a shock of 25 gravity units (g) applied in the dire

46、ction of each of the three major axes. 3.6.4 Vibration resistance. When tested as specified in 4.6.18, the pump shall not malfunction and shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 when exposed to vibrations between 10 and 55 Hz with an amplitude of 0.03 inches. 3.6.5 Fungus resi

47、stance. When tested as specified in 4.6.19, the pump shall be fungus resistant. 3.6.6 Fuel resistance. When tested as specified in 4.6.21, the pump shall equal or exceed the pressures and flow rates on figure 1 after being exposed to or operated with contaminated fuel. 3.6.8 Corrosion resistance. The pump shall be corrosion resistant when tested

49、as specified in 4.6.22. 3.6.9 Temperature shock. The pump shall withstand exposure to temperature shock when tested as specified in 4.6.23. 3.6.10 Humidity. When tested as specified in 4.6.24, the pump shall withstand exposure to humid conditions. 3.7 Marking. The pump shall be marked for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130. Marking shall be permanent with the location
